Sooky Rottweiler says;
I know a car brand named Drof…

Two new cartoons back/back so you might want to go back and look at the other one.
This one puzzles me – I know that is the Ford oval, but I don’t why it would be about Ford – have I missed something?
I do know that Ford was the only American car maker not to ask for a handout, but that was because they had gotten a lot of big loans just before the crash, and the reason that GM and Chrysler had to ask for hand out was because they couldn’t get loans.
Ford is deeply in debt, so I guess the cartoon means they are on life support.

Ford’s most recent report - for the third quarter - shows a billion-dollar profit - when they hadn’t posted a profit in four years previously.

Ken, that’s not quite right. Ford took on debt in order to restructure their business very effectively. They’re much more efficient now, use common platforms around the world, and developed new, better, and greener cars which are selling well. As Fairportfan2 notes, they made an unexpected profit. Tell me the last time we heard that from a car company! Other US car companies called CEO Alan Mulally nuts to do that - but he did it when debt was cheap and easier to pay off. Now they’re calling him a genius! Ford is keeping Detroit alive.

FORD: First on Race Day( unless its Toyota)
Fix or Repair Daily( unless its a Toyota floor mat)
Found On Road Dead (unless its Toyota’s flat sales in 3d qtr)
FIAT pls give Chrysler some 21st Century cars to sell.
Ken Warren said, 19 days ago
I’ve owned several Fiats, loved everyone of them, they all hated me.
Fiat can’t save Chrysler, we’ve all have discovered that it’s possible to make a car that will run for 100,000 miles with no trouble.
If you’re young and don’t really care about getting to where you are going Fiats are fun, and small so they are easy to push when break down.

Heartening to see Ford making a profit after so long. I’m glad for the Ford workers more than anything else.I’ve been seeing the new little Fiat in commercials and like it, but would be afraid, at my age, to drive it for fear I’d be run down by an eighteen wheeler whose driver couldn’t see me.

I like the heart beat showing up strong! Very good, John. I would rather have done without the explanation at the bottom – it was a great symbol all by itself.

I wonder if their profit was due to creative accounting practices. Now a days GAAP has been changed so much that a businesses’ balance sheet is too misleading.
For those of you who don’t get it imagine you are Ford and you are giving one set of numbers to potential suckers-I mean, uh, investors, and another set of numbers to the I.R.S. (since you can’t cheat Uncle Sam). One of those two sets of numbers is real info and you don’t have to be a genius to see who’s getting it.
