Does this mean that the government shutdown is a good thing?
    -
    Or a bad thing?
    -
It’s kind of incredible that Fox “news” viewers have no opinion. Or at least not one they are not embarrassed to admit.

Do not pay taxes to a shutdown government.

Turnabout is fair play, if we all go on strike the same as our government did and we refuse to pay fees, taxes or registrations perhaps they will get the message.
    .
If we all do this they will be as helpless as we are right now.

    Sure sounds fair to me.

“It’s kind of incredible that Fox “news” viewers have _no opinion.”_
That’s only because it hasn’t been given to them yet.

So you have voluntarily cut your income so you don’t have to pay as much in taxes?
    .
Does that sound like a smart person to you? Or are you simply so spiteful that would burn down your own house to avoid having to pay the government property taxes if the taxing authority was the Federal government?
    .
Reminds me of the saying, “You’d cut off your nose to spite your face.”
    .
And BTW, playing by the rules, paying the tax rates currently in force I would love to pay $1 million in taxes. Because that would mean my income would be many multiples of millions. And then I could enjoy “a more leisurely life.”

What’s the matter, are you jealous that Comedy Central is a more credible, more rational “news” source than your propaganda outlets?

Boehner would tell you the same thing, but then the Tea Party minority would yank hard on the cord and his voice would go up an octave.

“We need to abolish the IRS, and the tax code that intimidates us. But Congress doesn’t want to change the tax system because ALL of them use it as a vote-buying scheme.”
    .
Smartest statement here. A tax system to confuse the stupid and ignorant.

It means that those elected to serve and represent us are insufferably smug and
condescending. Both the president and some congressional leaders have said
this, both during this “crisis” and the last
one. Maybe it’s some sort of attempt to be
jockular – to connect with “average Americans”. Or, as the cartoon suggests,
maybe those inside the beltway are so out
of touch they really think the people they
(ahem) govern are actually as sorry and
    irresponsible as they
