    It’s NOT a civil war.

Saudi Arabia and Qatar want a piece of the Fertile Crescent, and the combatants include a large Saudi mercenary force, a large Qatari mercenary force, and a small US CIA force on one side, and the Syrian Army and Hezbullah on the other side.

The US, the UK, and France are all supporting the Saudi mercenaries, but only the US is sending operatives; Russia and Iran are supporting the government of Syria.

The Qatari mercenaries are being blamed for 100% of all the atrocities committed by anti-Syrian government forces, and, under orders from the King of Saudi, Obama forced the Emir of Qatar to resign in favour of his son. But since they’re already there, the Qatari mercenaries aren’t leaving until they’ve got something worthwhile for their trouble.

So it’s a war between rival states fighting for a valuable property, not just a civil war (a minority of Syrians are supporting the anti-government forces, but most are just trying to get out if they can).

And with the US one one side and Russia on the other, WWIII anyone?

Thank you for enlightening those who have not been aware or perhaps do not care of these participants. Quick question – you fail to mention Iran. It was my understanding that Iran was also supplying men and supplies to the Assad regime. Am I incorrect?
    Always enjoy reading you Mike.
    Sincerely,
    C.

Isn’t Syria conducting a TRIBAL WAR?
Sunni and Shiite against the Alewites?

Call ‘em any name at all, as long as the Ale is cold and doesn’t taste like fish.

I mis-spelled Alawite, which is the Islamic sect to which the Assad family in Syria belongs. The Sunni majority and their allies the Iranian Shiites are the rebels trying to oust Assad.

@Adrian is correct….heartless to joke about a civil war amongst Muslims that has killed an estimated 100,000 people.

The only hope for anyone in the Mideast suffering violence because of the prophesied warlike nature of Ishmael’s descendants, is the Judeo-Christian Messiah Jesus, God the Son, returning to stop wars and set up a Kingdom of Peace.

Those who danced in the streets on 9/11 are now killing each other in a civil war?
    .
This is not something to joke about digustedtaxpayer, it is time for US to dance in the streets.
    .
Thank you for the reprimand, I hope any misunderstanding is cleared up.

I thought I said that Iran was supporting the Syrian government. How, exactly, I’m not sure. Money, definitely. Materiel and troops, I’m not sure, my sources didn’t say.

Alawites ARE Shia. As every Syrian I talked to said, it’s NOT a civil war between Syrian tribes, but the Syrian government (Shia and secularist) and Hezbollah (Shia) against mercenary armies from Saudi Arabia and Qatar (Sunni Islamists), a few Sunni Islamist Syrians (but not many) and a few CIA agents from the US.

So, NOW it’s a bad thing when 100,000 people are killed? But the invasion of Iraq was okay because?
    -
Because it was done by someone who was ‘saved’?
