WOW! A non political post. Thank your people for serving for all of we Americans!
I served for some 9 years in the California National Guard myself, but I must admit to not having a truly military mind, but I did enjoy the technology of such military equipment as armor (tanks).
Please continue such relatively non political posts. Heck, you might even attempt to move more towards the center of the political spectrum as it is the most reasoned area of politics, and we as Americans need far more moderately thinking people!
And, Have A Truly Great Memorial Day!!

My compliments to your family Ima. I also want to give thanks to Howgozit and dltroutma as well as dltroutma’s son. My eldest daughter is a major in the army and may deploy to Afghanistan next year.
We owe an unpayable debt to the people who served and the families who waited at home for them to return, sometimes in vain.
I hope we can one day restore a government to one more worthy of the sacrifices these young men and women make for us, and for those who held the lines for us in WW2, Korea, Vietnam, etc.
God bless you all.
Respectfully,
C.

Not to be picky Robert, but it’s Veterans Day. Memorial Day is in May. Your heart’s in the right place. Of course this is about all veterans, but this cartoon is the Viet Nam wall. Today we honor our military and veterans and are more supportive of their needs when they return home, often gravely wounded. In the days after Nam vets were often scorned and people would have preferred they were just invisible. I hope we have learned from that as a country, there is no way to put a cost on their sacrifice…

“The Wall” is the “Viet Nam Veterans Memorial” (I’m “sensitive” about being accurate on the name.), I note the gentleman walking in front of the memorial, yes HE is the focus on this one, as WE do remember our friends, our own.
C Downs, thanks, appreciate the thought, and for all those who serve our nation, either in combat arms, or in pursuit of Peace!

You are of course correct, sorry about that. I sometimes get the two confused. But I do know enough history to know that Veterans Day is actually the day that the Armistice went into affect for the end of World War I as well.
Heck, I almost did it again, and called it Memorial Day. Oh well, that is sometimes what you get for being 70 years old!

Thanks for the very moving comments, everyone.
For my older brother Pat, who served in the Korean “conflict”,
for my dad and mom who worked in defense plants in
WWII, my uncles Harold and Loren (Pacific Theater and France, respectively ) and for my dad’s older brother Clyde,
who i’m told tried valiantly to suirvive Bataan, but did not.
For my uncle John ( WWII , Pacific),
And for all those who are re-adjusting from their time
in Afghanistan and Iraq
Happy Veterans Day

While you sit safely at home and attack their Commander-in-Chief.

Oh come on , Ima made a relatively non partisan post, please do not encourage the kind of rancor that we sometimes see on these message boards.
By the very nature of true liberalism, liberals should generally avoid being contentious. Besides which, I do not remember any attack on President Obama as the Commander in Chief of our military forces. Even from Ima.
By the way, is Ima a man or a woman? Or is Ima some kind of an initial mnemonic?
It may seem silly, but I am curious.

‘their’ commander in chief?
Where was the ‘commander-in-chief’ when Binghazi was being attacked? No one links O with anything successful.
