I have seen this happen (albeit at much lower levels) several times at places I worked. The higher such a man is in a hierarchy, the less likely he is to be punished in a meaningful way. In fact, his “punishment” would be a fabulous financial bounty for me. At one place, the most important VP, (strongly advised to resign, not fired) has been president of several different companies since he left, advised to leave at each one, slapped with harassment suits in three different states. And he still keeps getting hired at other companies. I think his latest job is as a consultant. This is the Way of the World, I guess.
