    When I was a kid, back in the 1950s, our phone was a party line, with four houses on the same line — and everyone listened to everyone else’s phone calls. They never said they did, but we could hear the clicks. And we did it, too. I don’t know if I believe in “human nature”, but snooping, I mean curiosity, might just qualify.

    Didn’t see an Obama reference. He could have been referring to a sweet elderly active Democrat couple that just happen to have equipment that enabled them to eves drop on Newt Gingrich’s cell phone conversation in a moving vehicle…

    The five English speaking countries have an agreement not to spy/eavesdrop on each other. Seems to me that policy could be extended to major allies for the greater mutual trust and respect. Anyone sleazy enough to snoop into another’s personal correspondence, you just naturally assume is a douche-bag.
