As I always need to say, I’m not an American.

But you have no idea how phenomenal the payoff is when a world leader actually takes the time and effort to visit one’s own little country.

And when that leader is so astoundingly popular, the payoff is way off the scale, not just in economic terms.

No, I am not joking re the “popular” statement.

Just because BHO is just some local politician to you guys, don’t lose sight of the fact that he is a a World Leader, and at the moment quite possibly the most important one. Mix into that the fact that he likely has some African heritage, and the crowds go wild over him.

An analogy is the phenomenal trip made to Europe by Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy (and “the man who accompanied her”) during the near inflammation of the Cold War. JFK cemented his iconic status into world culture with that trip, and the USA consequently retained control during very shaky times.

If your current POTUS missed this opportunity to ally with Africa, the regional influencing alternatives would be Russia and China.

So, once again, do you reckon his trip is a good investment?

Or do you think you would be better off spending five times as much and buying one more B2 bomber?

We need to take those petitions from people who said they wanted to secede from the United States, gather those people up, and send them on a one way trip to Somalia.
Imagine how happy they will be with no government, no taxes, and able to oppress minorities as much as they want.

Despite the violent racist rhetoric you encounter on this board, keep in mind that Obama is very popular in America too. He was re-elected with the largest margin seen in many, many years; and his second inauguration had more spectators than both of GWB’s inaugurations combined. He’s quite popular.

America needs legislators that care more about their country than their personal fiscal futures and job security. It needs a wealthy class who, like many of our richest people in history, have enough appreciation for the society that helped them become and stay rich that they invest in the nation and its people. America needs children whose parents and teachers educate and who can convey the idea that making the effort is not only worthwhile, but something for which one can be proud. America needs young adults who are not afraid of hard work, really hard work, such as harvesting crops, and who are rewarded for their work in recognizable ways, such as college credits or preferential attention on job interviews after college and/or trade school.
America needs to be United in the idea that we are neighbors and friends we haven’t necessarily met yet, and to talk and work together in a civil and respectful way.
    Respectfully,
    C.

sorry the rich are 1% of population and pay 36% of the income taxes collected by the government. And give it a couple more years they will move to a place where the taxes are not as high and take the jobs with them and were will we be. And for you libs if you want to push abortions there is a place you should be doing it not giving them food to produce more kid they can not support. And one other thing when good will sent clothes to Africa they put the clothing companies out of business. Same with hattie all the food they sent put some of the farmers out of business.

Oh, I’m sure they’d love that… right up until they find that the minorities have even more guns than they do. Takes all the fun out of oppressing ’em!

Bush went twice to Africa. Did a safari. His wife went 5 times. Daughters went too. Cost far more than Obama’s non-safari trip.

more freebies to the rich and those unwilling to work? Seems the way we’ve been headed in this administration.

Getting back to the issue “cartoon” at hand. Did you see where the average CEO’s salary increased by 12% in 2012. Did your raise match that?
