    As Peter Sagal said on “Wait,Wait, Don’t tell me” Saturday –
    “And CNN wonders, “Why doesn’t anyone ever wiretap US?”
    Happy Memorial Day Neighbors,
    And God Bless and keep those who serve and their families.
    Respectfully,

    Want news? Read BBC or Al Jazeera on line.

    Listen to NPR, watch PBS, Listen to BBC (on US public radio stations), Listen to “Democracy Now” on line or on some US radio stations including Pacifica stations.

    I’m talking about news, Clark, not commentary. BBC is the only one you listed that comes close to reporting news. I can’t believe you listed “Democracy Now” as a news program.

    @Clark Kent

    I tape the PBS Newshour every night and watch it after dinner. It’s the only news outlet that I feel more informed about things after viewing. No idiotic opinions, guests not talking over each other. It’s the exact opposite of this cartoon — no sensational crime reporting, no athlete worship, and nary a celebrity musing.

    Hmm, securing a list of who called whom, isn’t necessarily “wiretapping”. I don’t support doing so without a warrant, but those who support, or supported, the passage of the “Patriot Act”, should just shut up and bite the bullet they fired at our, and AP’s, rights under the First Amendment.

    Hello Mike,
    I use this website to watch other things, but noticed a month ago that Al Jazeera was one of its offerings. At the suggestion of you and a couple of our other commentators I’ve watched some and like most of what I see.

    They have a slew of offerings.

    I didn’t know that Al Jazeera had a tv like offering. I’ve only read the news on their news site.

    I can’t remember how long ago I gave up watching and believing television news. Too many selective adjectives and selectivity of subjects when they pick news to do in depth.

    Yes, either remain silent since they have what they wanted, too bad it backfired, OR work to repeal the “patriot act” instead of health care.

    TROUT: One more time…

    The Patriot Act, when originally passed, was to sunset in 10 years and only permitted wiretaps between domestic phone calls placed to known terrorists outside the US. It wasn’t until Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid came into power that this was made permanent and expanded to include calls made and received domestically. (And no, Republicans are not blame free.)
