    And the campaigning begins in ernest.

    The New York Times reassures Americans they have nothing to worry about: Ebola is a big problem in Africa because the Africans are a primitive, superstitious people who refuse the Western medicine that could save them.

    And the New York Times marketing department assures them that none of their readers think of themselves as primitive and superstitious (of course, neither do the Africans).

    The only thing worse than the virus is the Congress.

    While they’re gone, EVERYBODY send your rep and senators a detailed Email, telling them what you expect them to accomplish when they get back!

    (Be polite, but serious!)

    Good idea. Wish everyone will do that. My rep has published that a representative will be available to meet with the public for one hour, between 11 and 12 noon, on 8/19. Get it? One hour in the middle of a workday. And not even the Congressman himself. What else should he be doing with 5 weeks off before the election? Hiding from his constituents, of course.

    @Ted Lind

    I would have thought Iran trying to weaponize infectious diseases ,such as Ebola, would be much worse.

    “Wolf”, note I said “in ernest”, as they’re out “visiting” their constituents while out of D.C., and the campaigning never DOES stop, especially the persistent fundraising. Curing and preventing Ebola, Malaria, and maybe even cancers, would cost less than what our current political campaigns now end up costing. (Not to mention all that “payback” from taxpayers required to make nice to their “private” contributors after the election!)

    Unfortunately, Congress won’t actually CALL it a recess, just so Obama can’t make recess appointments.

    My rep would just delete the email and send a form letter about how hard he’s working to destroy the country.
