How is it that people think that no one will miss a few million dollars? What kind of person pisses that kind of money away, knowing full well how much value that money could provide in a more constructive context? I understand that it’s easier if you’re spending “someone else’s money”, but still…..it would be nice to expect that at least one of the people in charge had a conscience.

There’s a difference between losing money because you are too irresponsible to have had access to it in the first place, and wasting money just because you can. Different levels of hell, but different nonetheless.

And I’m willing to bet this is nothing compared to what we don’t know. Your tax dollars at work.

    Inexcusable.

I still don’t entirely get the hubbub over the conferences and linedancing. Doesn’t anyone work in corporate? This is exactly the sort of thing they make people do for ‘team building’ and ‘morale’. Yes, the presidential suites were kind of out of hand, but all of the other stuff? Standard practice for any big business, and ultimately, of all of the government departments, the IRS is the most businesslike, filled with taxmen and not politicians. It’s a stressful enough job as is, I want my IRS auditors and people to have something to be happy about.

    What no government like Somalia?
Or government employees bought and paid for by lobbyists and special interests? Now it’s just politicians and certain department heads that are little different than politicians.

“I still don’t entirely get the hubbub over the conferences and linedancing. Doesn’t anyone work in corporate? This is exactly the sort of thing they make people do for ‘team building’ and ‘morale’.”
Exactly my thoughts. Then again I’ve been too busy to look into this too deeply, but my thought about conferences and recreation in the name of morale was, “So what?” But it gives the “CONservatives” another false scandal to pursue and waste more taxpayer money on.
    .
Here’s a question for society at large, but especially the neocons in the audience, why is it we expect “public servants” to work for poor wages, no benefits, and absolutely no recognition or “recreational team building?” They don’t of course, but we expect them to. And before any weak-minded low-information “voters” come back with they are better paid, consider this, yes public workers on average are paid higher than the average private worker, but the average public worker is higher educated than the average private worker. When corrected for education NECESSARY for their positions the public worker is actually paid less than the private employee is. Why? We also expect them to do more, catch the scofflaws who flout the rules and like with Wall Street we expect the (relatively) low wages to attract people smart enough to understand let alone catch the crimes and nightmares of the ever creative money-for-nothing “Exotic products” created for no other purpose than to extract more money from Main Street. If they can make more money creating the train wreck why would they want to work for less in a more adversarial organization? It’s time we paid for what we deserve, and demanded we receive it.

Then how about not targeting them to be your scapegoat. The people of Cincinnati have spoken and they are mad! Who ever told the LIE that this started from them has ticked them off! They, in Cin, are ticked off that the hirer ups are telling congress that they gave “bad customer service”
But in your mind that is OK, they got do line dancing and watch a guy paint.

I don’t know if it’s true or not. I just heard a news blurb go by that the IRS lost some receipts for their conferences. What a hoot! The IRS not being able to produce expense receipts!

As I have said more than once..
NO political group should be free from taxes…there is not a mot of charity involved and this includes some churches as well.."
Those that give to these groups do NOT get a tax credit. The purpose of getting a tax exempt is so you are not taxed on money that has already been taxed after you have earned it and already had income tax taken out of it before you donated it. This way Government can not tell you you can or can not donate and get a credit for it. And so list of donors are not harassed for the political views they hold.
OOOOPS, we found out yesterday that conservatives list of donors were leaked to the co chair of the Obama election committee
    http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/05/14/Obama-campaign-co-chair-attacked-Romney-conservative-group-in-2012-with-leaked-IRS-scandal-documents
And the IRS has admitted it profiled and targeting groups that did not fit Obama’s agenda!

What’s really silly about the flap over the videos is the fact that government agencies picked up on these “team building” exercises from PRIVATE corporations contracted to provide the training, just the “corporate world” has used.

Interesting too that some of the most profitable companies in America, and around the world, are the ones that have gone to “campuses”, and “casual Fridays” becoming day to day S.O.P..

NPS (National Park Service) was chastised a long time ago by having training for interpreters at Disneyworld. The same “righties” critical, grasped tightly onto the Disney policy of “commercializing” public lands, by selling them off, or charging recreation folks huge fees to use PUBLIC land, while letting extractive resources like oil and gas, timber, and grazing, “skate” on paying any fair market value for what they were getting.
