Socialism…you keep saying that word; I do not think it means what you think it means.

If you really look at the soldiers goosestepping in parades in front of the man this cartoon lampoons – a man for whom, I should add, I no longer have sympathy – the faces of the soldiers are GAUNT. Many of those enlisted faces show the skeleton behind the skin. These are a starving, nothing to lose, people; and they are more afraid of their gov’t than they are going to war. They do not know the world would help them if their leaders were willing to be reasonable.
Additionally, the leadership of this nation does not have an exit strategy. Like Assad of Syria, they face criminal charges in the Hague, total loss of power and prestige – such as it is, and prosecution by their own people should they ever relinquish power. They may very well feel it is better to “rule in hell than serve in heaven” and be willing to go down in a blaze of glory. This is the biggest threat from NK. Like a rat cornered by well fed and generally disinterested cats, it is ready to attack the cats and invite its own destruction rather than just stay in its corner and be quiet.
“What a piece of work is a man, how noble in reason, how
infinite in faculties, in form and moving how express and
admirable, in action how like an angel,” (Shakespeare’s Hamlet)
So much potential wasted. So much nobility squandered.

The people of North Korea are so under the thumb of fear and propaganda that they appear to worship Kim. This sham “Peoples’ Republic” is like any other hereditary monarchy that existed a thousand years ago.

Conservatives who constantly throw the ‘S’ word around remind me of a little kid, pushing the button on his talking toy over and over, coz he knows how much it annoys the grownups

Tigger: It also appears South Korea finally has a president willing to call Kim’s bluff. Let’s hope so. The fact that they took no action after the sinking of their destroyer, and the shelling of their island is despicable.

Which reminds me, since when has hereditary rule been part of the Communist agenda?

But how much of the 47% do they want to eliminate?

Poor choice of words; I actually wanted to say Communist PHILOSOPHY…and that is what North Korea professes itself to be, regardless of what type of government the country actually has.

But it’s not really Stalinist dictatorship either when you think of it. Uncle Joe didn’t pass on the supreme position to HIS son either. (’Course he had nothing but contempt for the kid anyway. )

Nooo, i think what we have here is a monarchy in all but name.

    Or as I would call it…a Hypo-cracy.
