When everyone is screaming “jobs!”, it WAS pretty bone-headed.

I agree with you. However Harry Reid is grandstanding. Is this a job creation contract for the uniforms or is it the principal of being American made. I feel it’s more the principle, these uniforms should have been made in America by Americans!

They’ll probably burn the Chinese made uniforms and spend more borrowed money to buy American made uniforms.

Borrowed from China, to boot…

Josefw, you’re throwing a Democrat-style hissy-fit there.

I doubt whoever made the decision to select these uniforms ever even considered exactly WHERE they were going to be made.

Since when is Harry Reid a republican?

@DrCanuck
You mean like John Kerry would do? :-)

That’s a good point. In today’s economy it’s very hard to “buy American”. If you take apart a Volkswagen you will find that only about 60 percent of it are “Made in Germany”. It’s not a big deal because most “foreign” parts are made under VW’s supervision, they are tested before assembly, the assembly itself happens here, the QA is tough and the guarantee very customer-friendly. But still, a slightly bad feeling remains…

I am not bent out shape about it, however the option should have stayed in the USA.
Harry Reid is throwing the Hissy-Fit!

I liked it when the Fox News crew made fun of the berets until they started hearing from the Green Berets.

It is a shame. Could be worse than China though – when Romney was in charge of the olympics, he outsourced the uniforms to Burma – http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/16/mitt-romney-olympics-outsourced-uniforms-burma_n_1677791.html

Wow, it looks like those that have to find ways to save the Olypics or want to save money in hard times are ridiculed for trying to do so. Just make sure they are not sweat shops.

Oh, so we don’t like the free markets anymore?
.
It’s hard to keep up.
DrCanuck said, 11 months ago
@ReasonsVentriloquist
Conservatives only like free markets when America is winning, that is, producing superior products at cheaper prices than anyone else. In that case, governments should stay away.
But the moment someone else does it better or cheaper, conservatives are against the free market and demand governments step in and fix everything.
