    As Calvin once commented; “The Surest sign that there is intelligent life in the universe is the fact that NO ONE has tried to contact us!”

    “Just misses”. Ha-Rumpf! It was 36 time the distance between Earth and Moon! Okay granted, we should have something in place one gets really near. But that would cost money and require international cooperation, so it’s better to just follow the proud example of our ancestors – the dinosaurs!

    Cosmically speaking, that’s not that big of distance. Remember that planetary gravity can in influence objects if they get too close.

    We will accomplish the annihilation of civilization with fossil fuel consumption. We don’t need an asteroids help. We are as moths to the flame.

    With tons of “stuff” hitting our planet every year, it’s nice it doesn’t all come in ONE PACKAGE!!

    mmm, I wonder, if we pumped up 100% of all the bad fossil fuels, and used them up in the peek oil myth in say 100 years, what will be the effect now that the hockey stick has been dis-proven? 1 maybe 2 degrees? and that is going to bring man bad dead how?

    @Harleyquinn

    It will be more than two degrees, that’s for sure. And after the 3 miles of ice that cover Greenland have melted you will sing a different tune, right until you realize that the permafrost in Russia has melted and the Methane coming from there is turning us into a second Venus. These things don’t follow linear rules, no matter what the North Carolina lawmakers force upon their scientists…

    So with all the myriads of objects in erratic orbits out there, the history of large rocks hitting the earth (and every other planet) and the proven elapsed time since the last large strike, what makes anyone think that the next big hit isn’t just right around the corner?

    hahahahahahahahaha ……. we all gonna die!

    No, it’s funnier this way.

    ^ Don’t know what he’s talking about; I still have MY hockey stick. Two, even.
