    Shouldn’t the white guy have a gun?

    No, sometimes the Black Guy has a gun. The difference is he gets sent up for life if he’s not killed in the process of being “detained”!

    Shouldn’t the black guy be beating up the white guy?

    Since “stand your ground” wasn’t an issue in the trial, I don’t understand why the editorial cartoonists keep bringing it up.

    In a non-stand your ground state, when you follow someone and kill them, even though you had the ability to walk away, it’s murder. It’s only self defense if you’re trapped by an assailant with no opportunity to leave, or in your own home.

    @ARodney

    ARod, do you think having someone sitting on your chest pummeling you “MMA Style” or slamming your head into a concrete sidewalk a situation one has the ability to “walk away from”?

    Those are the “facts” in evidence.

    What say you?

    @Genome Project

    There are currently 31 states with “stand your ground” laws – or a similar law – and 3 more with legislation in the works.

    If you confront me – regardless of why – and then start punching me, I’m going to fight back with every available weapon at my disposal.

    If you confront me and want to talk about it. Well, that’s a different kettle of fish and I will use any diplomatic skill I possess to calm the situation and move one.

    You reap what you sow.

    The trial is over, and a jury could not find Zimmerman guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. That’s the way it is, and I think we should move on. But it seems pretty clear to me that race is still a potent issue in the US. Assuming that everyone has good will (quite an assumption, but let’s start there), how do people move forward? Shouting and blaming?

    @Adrian Snare

    How would you get the undocumented guns from the criminals who had stolen them or from an illegal source? Ask the criminals to please come in and hand them in no questions asked? The problem with you and the liberals is you believe that a gun policy will automatically get all guns out of the criminals hands. It only works on law abiding citizens as they follow the law and criminals don’t, hence the word criminal.

    Race is an issue because O and his group make it so.

    I wish people could “walk in each others shoes” for a while. That would probably be the best thing for our society and communities.

    @DrCanuck
    Define “went after him”…..
    Anybody has the right to approach you – that is, walk right up to you – and they can even insult you verbally. And you still do not have the right to put your hands on them in any way. However, if you are straddling that person and punching them in the face with the back of their head resting against the concrete sidewalk…they do have a right to defend themselves with deadly force. And they better do it quick because if they don’t they’re going to be dead or severely brain-damaged.

    Give me a break, you act like Martin was little mister innocent. He was a drug dealing drug using criminal. He was kicked out of school for drugs, he tried to beat a man to death. Zimmerman should have done things differently but never the less Martin was no saint. I’m sick of the media using a little boy school photo instead of the current one that showed the real Martin. He wasn’t a nice person.
    Obama, Eric Holder and Al Sharpton had no business sticking their two cents in either.
