I was talking to a young man from Pakistan who is trying to get a US visa. ‘Pakistan very corrupt. You must have connection to get job. We read America no corruption. Anyone who want to work find good job make lots of money. Please help me get visa to America.’

I tried to tell him that America also has problems, but he said all the main, reputable news sources (i.e., those that get translated into Urdu) agree: there is absolutely no corruption in America, and everyone who is willing to work can find a job that pays very well.

Cartoonists like Mr Morin do not get translated into Urdu and read by any Pakistanis.

    (Or by very many Americans.)

Mr. Morin, they’re called the Tea Party.

Only those that have actual power can make their corruption felt. Those that follow the tea party philosophy have no real power.

“Tea party philosophy,” ideas like “lower taxes at all costs,” is the creation of people like Dick Armey, Karl Rove, and the Kochs. They have plenty of power. Granted, they often don’t practice what they preach; they’re more than happy to have government subsidies and bail-outs when it’s to their own benefit.

Except those they elect and they’re really an elephant in the works. But overall, the cartoon is right on. Lord Acton, remember?

You really should get off of the political agenda sites and try researching original documentation. We DO have morally corrupt people in the government that are only interested in promoting their own beliefs at any cost. Their other major corruption is the desire for power.

    Wow, you’ve got serious problems.

Have you noticed the profound corruption of the GOP for, oh, the past thirty years? Did you notice when a sitting Vice President gave a no-bid contract TO HIS OWN COMPANY? Or when they hid the discussion around “energy policy” which was entirely with (and for the benefit of) oil companies?
Or the fact that the biggest “Tea Party” organization is fully funded by the Koch brothers? Or that the votes against labor were funded by the Koch brothers?
Have you even noticed the corruption?

Actually, I DO recall motive discussing aspects of President Obama’s actions he didn’t like. You just ignore sentient posts in general so you can lash out.

Just thought I would get personal on this.
I like your philosophy, it is an acquisition that apparently takes a good many years to understand.

The lack of an uprising after the Supreme Court decision that made Bush president proved that the American public has lost its revolutionary fervor.

    @Gary Kleppe

Good Answer! The Koch bros. started the t-party, the heritage foundation, People for prosperity (but only for the already preposterous, prosperous), the Cato institute, and more. It is NOT a grass roots thing at all, even though they would like people to believe it is.
And they do have lots of power. They are guiding the whole GOP as far right as they can.

Very knowedgable. Republican voter depicted in last frame. Pictured “watching” one of Boehner’s rhetorical speeches, lauded as one of the best by Fox News.
