And yet Barry and the Spendocrats say that not collecting enough taxes is the problem.

This cartoon is soooo false. Everyone knows there is NO waste in the Pentagon or any other aspect of defense spending. We need every one of those flag officers.

Also, we need every one of those weapons systems, even those the Pentagon doesn’t want.

Not taxing the wealthy enough is a problem. Massive Pentagon waste is also a problem. Guess which party took the lead in causing both of those problems?

Not collecting enough taxes IS the problem. You obviously haven’t done the math. But math is not a strong point for either half of your name…

This may be the only way possible to cut defense spending, so it has some merits.

When people get back any interest, that’s a heinous violation of Aristotelian ethics, and must be stamped out. (Except for people buying big bonds, who are exempt.)

But people who pay into the entitlement programs get back (on average) all their money plus 5% interest, which is a crime. These programs are taxes, and it is a serious violation to return even the money taken, let alone any interest. Let’s just keep all those payroll taxes and put them where they’ll do much more good than treating elderly hypochondriacs: give every cent to Friends of the White House and the Capitol and the military to keep America safe.

I wonder how much the Pentagon budget could be reduced just by getting Congress to quit pushing pork down the military’s throat and making them buy things they don’t even want. Another place would be to get the military to quit changing specifications on an item after it’s in development or production. That really drives up the per unit cost. They should have those specs 98% solid when they put something out for bid.

Yeah. we need to cut defense. I agree there is tons of waste in the programs. I even agree with trout when he rants about the failed jet engines and or new tech that doesn’t improve anything in reality.

Gore Bane says: “The military has been attempting for years to cut back on unneeded National Guard and Reserve forces, only to be thwarted by Congress members protecting their own back yards.”

And the answer to that is reduce the size of the regular Army and reassign those troops to the National Guard in there home states and let the States take up the burden. Give them the equipment as well and let the States take up the maintenance. Wonder how long before the States would reduce that number

But gee, here is a though. And right up a liberals….alley.

The sequester calls for reducing spending by 85 billion (pocket change really) and we as the generous nation we are do this:

    http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-02-20/why-should-taxpayers-give-big-banks-83-billion-a-year-.html

Bank subsidies? (mutters to self) big banks get a bailout, big banks get subsidized, big banks are the epitome of that evil hated class, the 1%. What is wrong with this picture? OH yeah, “establishment” republicans will choke on that one but see “conservatives” will agree with it and help get it passed. But then you really, really…….REALLY hate the true conservatives.

“Funny how the bloated entitlement programs are never mentioned.”

I guess if you had a functional brain you might realize that the DOD budget has more than DOUBLED since your hero Bush first took office. Of course Obama is complicit in this spending as he has maintained GW’s favorite war and other military spending. Now Obama wants to expand more troops in South East Asia and Africa so we can make a “presence” in those areas. I guess Obama doesn’t care if we fire up a few more chicken shit little wars like Afghanistan or Iraq. What is it we’re going to accomplish there? Oh yes, save them for democracy…

Bruce, I agree with you on this one. Regarding true conservatives (and this is a serious question), can you name any in elected office today? I can’t. I also can’t name many true liberals.

While there are major policy differences between “establishment” Republicans and “establishment” Democrats, they are both big spenders that take a lot of money from bankers and defense contractors. They just allocate their bloated budgets differently.
