Benghazi seems to be a big deal in the USA.
Maybe it is, I really don’t know.
How does it compare to the invasion of Iraq a decade ago?
mikefive said, 6 months ago
@Ottodesu
That was a failure of the intelligence agencies of five different countries.

No. It was the lies of one specific set of politicians who twisted the arms of other countries to give their filibustering a semblance of legitimacy.
.
(NB: A “filibuster” was originally something completely different than its current meaning in USAian politics. Look it up.)

Funny, there was a closed-door briefing on the events the other day & Grandpa Walnuts skipped it. Instead he was holding a press con whining about not having enough information.
The there was the actual testimony of the head of the CIA which confirmed Obama’s explanation.
Poor wingnuts, you keep trying to have a Broadwell with that chicken

Mr. McCain has knocked over a strange set of dominoes and has lost control of how they are going to fall. He is a good man, but has lost all moderate credibility in the wake of his efforts to appeal to the hardliners in his own state and the extreme right of his party. His declaration that he will block ALL appointments for Sec of State until he gets the answers he wants borders on manic. The more I hear about Benghazi, the more convinced I am that nothing illegal or unethical was done. If Mr. McCain really wanted more information, he SHOULD HAVE ATTENDED THE MEETING with General Petraeus. His failure to be at the committee he chairs in order to attack Ms. Rice on live interviews shows how much he really cares about the truth and finding ways to keep such tragedies from happening in the future. I hope Mr. McCain finds his center soon. I enjoyed liking him and while I still respect him for his service and many good things he has done, I no longer understand him and am unable to appreciate his stance on these issues.
Respectfully,
C.

As anyone could tell you, the head of the CIA (back when he was still the head) got a message left as a draft on his Google e-mail telling him what to say.
Last I heard, the Congressional testimony of the former head of the CIA was held behind closed doors, or has word of that testimony leaked out (and if so, please give links, because I’d like to see what he told Congress in complete confidence)?

Pardon my skepticism about “one specific set of politicians who twisted the arms of other countries” since one of those countries was Russia.

Huffpost has a series of SNL politicians that included Palin and Tina Fey that is really good.

I watching love conservatives wading farther and farther into their own tar pit. What lies Obama told? I’m looking forwards to Susan Rice’s confirmation hearings, where McCain is forced to reveal that all of his complaints are hot air based on the usual Fox News misquotes.

Benghazi is only a big deal to those with the smallest minds, you know republicans. Great cartoon by Morin showing that when it comes to incompetence no one knows incompetence better than John “Celebrity POW” McCain, the grumpy old crybaby of the GOP. I’m hoping that Sinister Sarah throws her hat into the ring for 2016, we Liberals could use a great laugh everyday.
