The problem with honesty is that no one wants to believe it when it is contradictory to their beliefs.

While there may be some validity to the idea of running a deficit to re-start a stalled economy, the big problem comes when the economy is booming. That’s when it’s time to pay down the debt and cool down the economy, so we don’t get yet another bubble…

JMK worked this out about a century ago, but the politicians only want to hear the part about government borrowing in good times, and ignore the part about paying it back ASAP.

We can always borrow from the Chinese again. Why not, how much can it cost? That’s responsible.

Oh pu-leease! Please don’t try to come up with this farce that Democrats taxed you first, collected all the money required to blow on these gigantic shopping sprees that make even Bush’s spending look like spare change in a wishing well.

Democrats are borrowing and spending larger than anyone thought possible. It’s gotten so that spending billions seems small now, and millions look like chump change!

Sure enough, that is the reality of the situation. Unfortunatley that is a reflection on our society as a whole.

Where is Scott? Did this give him a stroke?

Somehow some people seem to think that the government can provide services without taxes. But I guess Bush thought he could run a war without paying for it, so confusion reaches high places.

So, these trillions of projected budget deficits - into infinity, coupled with trillions of tax increases are all Bush’s …

Unfortunately, the past Republican presidents trusted the Democrats’ promises to cut spending.

Remember when GHW Bush was promised $2 spending cuts for each $1 of new taxes? Which is how they got him to break his ‘no new taxes’ pledge. They fxxxxd him and the country - royally.

I supposed you could argue “spend” and “spend”.

Obama have not stopped any of the wars that he likes to say he “inherited, so he’s giving good money to armament companies.

He gave a crapload of cash to bankers for bonuses, so you can call that a tax cut to the rich too.

Construction projects take forever to start, so none of those jobs are shovel ready…..assuming of course, the bulk of Americans are construction workers and want to dig holes instead of the field they were working in before losing their job.

And as for “plowing the money back”, it’s not their money it was borrowed, so more money will be taken back than was used in the loan to begin with.

Yup, Dems are a shining example of fiscal responsibility alright.

Sounds like the two santa clauses theory developed by the right wing nazi Jude Wanniski. Cut taxes so people think you’re the good guys and spend money so that the democrats would be forced to raise taxes. This will keep the republicans in power.

    And he was right.

The ignorance of this statement is breathtaking!

It is only exceeded by the arrogance of the disseminator.

The “democratic principle” of government collects taxes, then spends the money on what it takes to run government.

The “conservative” government BORROWS money, spends it on what nobody really needs(like war) then PAYS INTEREST ON THE MONEY to their buddies in the banking, insurance(yes, them), and corporate world to increase the debt with INTEREST, not just principal.

Paying interest gets the taxpayer nothing in return- the math is simple.
