Good one. If Uncle Sam was snoozing through all those things that have been happening for some time, the voters weren’t. The middle-class and younger generations shouted out in November.

They are all outrages. It’s time for everybody to wake up.

As upsetting as the AIG bonuses are, I have to admit to the truth of this ‘toon. The bonuses are a complicated issue, but they are in the end a tiny portion of the bailout. And the other far more outrageous violations we have allowed ought to have woken us up much earlier.

    Speak for yourself… ;)

I have to agree that Novemeber was an indication that many of us had woken up. This AIG thing is just another straw on the camel’s back.

CEO pay is as much as 364 times that of the average worker?

I would think it could be as much as a lot more than that. The former CEO of UnitedHealthGroup got $300M. That’s more like 10,000 times the average worker.

I’VE been yelling about this for years, and all I got was the right wingers accusing ME of engaging in class warfare!

There was a comic which showed a priest beating someone over the head for three panels. In the fourth panel, the guy asked the priest to stop and the priest shouted, “You’re persecuting me!”

I see the same thing happening here. Conservatives have been engaging in class warfare for decades, redistributing wealth.

When we finally call them on it, we’re called the wealth redistributors that are engaging in class warfare.

There finally is a great awakening in this country over the injustice of ratio of pay between CEO’s and workers. A lot of this stuff I have been complaining about for years and now it’s finally gotten bad enough that the citizens have awakened.

Hmmmm, very amusing to read …..

But I wonder what all these way=off-the-mark comments have to do with this panel?

Morin is saying that Taxpayers should be as outraged against sleeping-at-the-wheel Uncle Sam (Representing all three branches of the Gov) as they are against the incompetent AIG exec’s and their bonuses, after all both (Uncle Sam and AIG execs) are receiving taxpayer’s funded bonuses…….

Last panel’s ‘punch line’ is excellent, the dialogue could be subtituted as..

Taxpayers pay big bonuses to incompetent politicians—> (meaning you uncle Sam!) but of course Uncle Sam doesn’t get it…

Machado: You’re right. Uncle Sam (Republicans and right-leaning Democrats like Bill Clinton) don’t get it. We’ve been outraged over this stuff since the Republicans and right-leaning Democrats started this bleeep decades ago.

Yep, Mach, you have a point. I (and it sounds like many others) have been angry about sleeping Gov’t. for years. That would be starting in 1981, but particularly in 2000. Blame goes to both the greedy execs for perpetrating the outrage, but also for government for being, IMHO, complicit to it.

Sometimes, the little thing will wake up people who have been sleeping, and then they finally get the scope of the big outrages.
