    The whole world seems to be falling apart (so what else is new)?

    In 1919, the westernmost part of the USSR demanded and received independence, courtesy of the victorious Allies who wanted to punish the USSR for withdrawing from WWI. Stalin reclaimed all that was lost, plus chunks of the German Empire and the Austrian Empire. Then the bits that wanted to leave in ‘19 AND the bits that wanted to stay part of the USSR in ’19 left when the USSR disintegrated, and Russia promised never to interfere. So Russia lied about the Crimea and the easternmost bits of the Ukraine that hate the westernmost bits of the Ukraine. Clearly, we shouldn’t keep blaming Stalin for something that’s all Obama’s fault.

    And Israel needs to learn from the US. After God gave America to the WASPs, the Native Americans resisted with violence that only ended after 99% of them had been killed, and the remainder placed on reservations as tourist traps. Israel needs to kill 99% of the Palestinians (not 100%, that would be genocide), and put the rest on reservations as tourist traps.

    Ebola is easy. We just need to nuke West Africa. But Obama isn’t nuking them, so all those who die of Ebola can blame Obama for their deaths.

    But how can anyone blame Obama for ISIS? ISIS is no more. It is gone. (Now it’s just IS.) Of course, we can’t give Obama any credit for that, any more than we can give him credit for Osama’s assassination, when we know he gave orders to the US military not to hurt his BFF. Fortunately, since our patriotic general officers all know that Obama, having been born in Hawaii, is not a citizen, the US military has been protecting us without any civilian oversight, so they ignored Obama and sent the SEALs to kill Osama while Obama watched in horror on CCTV.

    Harley, your grasp of history is truly astounding. To get everything so completely wrong, and this with things that have happened in the past ten years! You need to stop listening to conservative media. They’re cons, and you’re the mark.

    “Funny how stable the global situation was when Bush left”

    Your delusions know no limit. Any stability was at the cost of the lives of numerous American soldiers (obviously not anyone you knew or cared about). If you think endless occupation is the path to American security, then go enlist. We’ll see what your opinion is when you’re in a pair of those “boots on the ground”.

    I note that while Wolf calls your statement a “delusion” he actually concedes your point, at least with regard to Iraq. He does miss the slow development of democratic institutions that occurred under President Bush’s tenure and which was abandoned under President Obama:

    Those who say Iraq was hopeless would have said the same thing about South Korea. Had we withdrawn from South Korea too quickly I don’t doubt that that country would also have failed.

    @TripleAxel

    The main difference, is that the South Korean government and the South Koreans themselves still wanted us there to protect them from the North Korean Government.

    And the government of Iraq along with at least a significant number of the people of Iraq wanted us out of their country so badly that they were still willing to kill our people. Even the former president himself finally realized this and made a deal for us to get out. In fact our current president tried to get that deal changed so that we could stay. But as the Iraq government wanted control over our own forces so that our people could be tried for crimes in a totally Muslim court (which I am certain that even the ultra conservatives here would have strongly objected to). So, bowing to the pressure of the Iraq government with a substantial amount of the people of Iraq as well as a substantial amount of Americans here at home, President Obama correctly pulled us out of the ten year long quagmire that was the Iraq War that we should never have even pursued in the first place!

    All reasonable Americans can now do is to hope (and yes, even pray) that our current president has the guts and intelligence to not listen to the ultra conservative types here and elsewhere and not get us into another such fiasco!!!

    Would you even begin to understand that?

    the “vanished is not vanquished” refers to the policy of the moderators to “vanish” posters for various (usually unstated, but frequently because the posters were offensive to others) reasons. There is an extensive list of such “vanished” posters. And of course individual posts also get vanished, as the mods have a low threshold on anything that looks too personal. Like your comment.

    Yes, diplomats always get things done with other countries by invading them.
