    The loony libs (like the New York Times) keep trying to blame the current crisis on Bush, jr instead of Obama, the real culprit, who is just using it to try to convince a fiscally responsible Congress to squander $3.7 billion. The estimate is about 50,000 children this year, so that’s about $70,000 per child. Presumably, after handing out $70,000 to each and every one of this year’s child immigrants, Obama will ask for more money for the new ones rushing to get their $70,000.

    Bush, jr worked hard against human trafficking, and the loony liberals say that’s responsible for the surge in child immigrants. They say Bush, jr’s bill against human trafficking prohibits the US from immediately returning (at minimal expense) any child not from Mexico or Canada, and that most of the children are from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador and cannot be deported before they have had a formal hearing to determine if they are fleeing from the threat of human trafficking. The backlog, say the liberals, is about 300,000 and the liberals claim Obama is asking for the $3.7 billion for new judges and courts to quickly process the 300,000, find that none of them is in the slightest danger from human trafficking, and then deport the lot of them.

    Instead, Obama is providing all those illegal immigrants with 5-star accommodations until they can get their $70,000.

    Michael what is your solution? The conservatives keep flapping their lips about how everything is the President’s fault but I have yet to see any specific recommendation on what to do. They don’t want to spend money on dealing with this problem but they are more than happy to spend money on another Benghazi investigation.

    The 2008 law was based on a Clinton-term law and Bush signed the 2008 act to protect only the victims of human sex traffikers. It was not a general amnesty for all illegal aliens coming into the USA. The 2013-2014 Flood is the creation of a wrong interpretation of law, or maybe it is just the natural Democratic scoff-law practice.

    Turn back all the illegals at the border.Let Mexico deal with them.
    That would stop them from crossing Mexico.
    Wait… the Mexican police are being paid to let the illegals from further south cross into Mexico. As long as they don’t try to stay in Mexico.
    Yea. Let Mexico deal with them.

    @SizeofaPea

    Did anyone invite all the disease the unscreened illegals are carrying?
    That statue is for folks that come here legally.
    Not folks coming here for the welfare, food stamps,Obama phones and rent subsidies.
    None of them are coming here to work.We don’t have enough jobs for citizens with an ever shrinking work force.
    Check the U.S. Dept. of Labor numbers.

    I never thought I would have to say this, but Holbert is actually correct. The current immigration mess IS Dubya’s fault, as Obama is compelled by law to enforce the laws that were passed under Dubya, which Dubya endorsed.

    So Holbert is correct, but not in the way he thinks. Because he doesn’t. Think, that is.

    My understanding that the buildup of children along the boarder is an unintended consequence of the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act, a bill championed by a Democrat and signed into law by Bush. My understanding is a side affect of the law is that it’s more difficult to send the children caught sneaking into the country back to their nation of origin if it doesn’t boarder the US.

    Instead of just bitching and blaming Obama (or Bush for that matter) the focus should be on how to fix it the problem.

    Congress needs to look at “legal”, and “asylum” from the total picture, not the political B.S., and xenophobes concerns. Hmm had the Caribe indians met Columbus with M-16s instead of tributes, MY ancestors would have already been in the Americas, for several millennia, but all these “anti-immigrant” folks, wouldn’t be here.
