As much time as they spend working, he should be wearing briefs.
Looks like a Dem in the Senate.Funny how the media likes to tell simpletons that Congress is controlled by Republicans only and the masses drink it up.
The Democrats won’t be happy until everyone is either working for the government (I know, oxymoron), getting a handout from the government, or preferably both.
They caught on fire that’s why he’s not wearing them….
Mr. Holbert has provided us a generic politician of any party. One wonders if this is to encourage those the parties work to divide will identify themselves through their writings. ConGov tells us the media wants us to believe Repubs control Congress, though my multiple sources, depending on their slant, point fingers in many directions. I would only argue that Money is in control of Congress and those we elected. In their effort to secure cushy lobbying/consulting jobs to complement their pension pkgs, our legislators will act, or block actions, their future employers tell them to move upon. Both parties are to blame for allowing the extremists on both sides to control the agendas to the detriment of us all. By attacking only one side, we fall into the same pattern and fail our nation and our neighbors while at the same time, flinging insults and diatribes.Thank you to those who wrote to my email telling me they have written to their legislators. While I don’t agree with some policy choices, by taking action, they are letting the elected know we are watching and listening.Respectfully,C.
I agree, Truist… as far as you go.In the HoR, Mr. Boehnor and his majority have done little to advance the debate and are much on record for their obstructionism. Some will say the Dems and/or Senate are the cause and they too are right… as far as they go. Neither body will advance ANY bills of value or number. Both want to focus on some grand cause to get their bases motivated. Poll after poll shows most people want the same things. Some of these things are easy and could be quickly resolved. Industry leaders have given both parties a list of things the gov’t needs to do in order for them to start hiring and innovating for the long term. Both parties will only tell us what they WON’T talk about unless it’s done ‘their’ way. They get such good pay, protections from insider trading issues on which they legislate, protection from OSHA, EEO, and other regulatory groups, and when they leave, depending on how long they served, better ‘severance pay’, even pensions, than the majority of Americans. The football is in the HoR, but there’s a basketball in the Senate, and the leaders of both of their chambers are playing rigged games with our future.Thank you for your kind words and reminding us of the 117 day year. They would remind us, perhaps, that is their time working in DC and the weeks and weeks they spend ‘in their districts’ reporting to constituents adds to that number, but I’ve seen enough C span to see them at work.Respectfully,C.
“Never happen in Cook County, IL, Adrian. ONE name (dead or alive) equals several votes.”For ONCE, I’d like to see you back up one of your claims with some kind of source. I think you’ll find Cook County is not alone in having dead people still listed on voters registration lists. It’s not like many people think to write a letter to the Board of Elections when their spouse dies. There is no evidence at all to support the idea that dead people are casting ballots anywhere.
Thank you. My eyesight is failing, and I could not read the cartoonist’s script where he must have clearly written the word Democrat.Interesting that so many conservatives assumed Holbert meant this guy is a Republican. It’s like they secretly know something.
Well, some folks don’t seem to recognize John Boehner is Speaker because the majority elected him from his party, and Mr. Cantor IS the “majority leader”, so much for the House. The Senate has seen more, far more, filibusters from Republicans in the last five years, than the cumulative total in prior history! Hmm, “control” is a nebulous word for those who don’t see the power of their own “party”.
Also, many, many, laws, are indeed repeals, amendments, or modifications of PRIOR LAW. It seems even Speaker Boehner has been ignorant of this fact, even on legislation he either wrote, or sponsored! All those regulations are much the same. During especially the Reagan administration wrote MANY regulations reversing prior regulations. (I know, because my job at the time meant reviewing those regulations, and what they did when they hit the Federal Register for public comment.)
Yes, there are indeed “extremists” on both sides of the aisle, have been for decades, actually going back to the very first Congress. Other than secession folks in the past, the current “TEA party” folks simply DO represent the most extremist fringe since that time. The ignorance of how laws, regulations, the House and Senate, by this “group” demonstrates just how extreme, and misguided, some of those folks are, but it doesn’t change either their minds, or rhetoric, to attempt to correct them.
Having criticized both “political extremes” here, many times, including President Obama on many issues where I disagree with his administration (like land use, not closing Gitmo, Afghanistan withdrawal too slow, surrendering to the House majority on many issues to “over” compensate for cooperation that he won’t get, and “questionable” appointments just like his predecessors, and indeed continuing NSA and “Security” policies supported by the law, but ill conceived. )
Thus, being constantly labeled “extremist” is to me pretty hilarious. Oh, right, I support a government for the people, instead of corporations, the intent of the founding fathers, and the Constitution, very “lefty” indeed!
WORST. SPEAKER. EVER.
I did Google it. I found cases where the names of dead people were still on voter registration lists all over the country, not just Illinois. What I couldn’t find was any evidence that those dead people were casting ballots. The investigations into alleged fraud turned out that the poll officials checked the wrong name on the list.http://www.npr.org/blogs/itsallpolitics/2012/02/23/147295537/in-south-carolina-new-report-finds-no-evidence-of-dead-votersA careful Google search can show that there were TENS OF BALLOTS cast that MIGHT have been fraudulent. Clearly, we need to upend the system. Better a million be denied their vote than one bad vote be cast. Especially if they are poor, black or hispanic. /sarcasm
