    Yes — because no Republicans voted for the Patriot Act. And no GOP president ever endorsed it.

    Not a good caricature of GWB.

    This was made “legal” during and was going on since the Bush Administration. Both parties ratified it. Why is it only a scandal now, and why is it only scandalous against Obama?

    Funny, BO’s shadow on the Wall reminds me of the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch…

    @TJDestry

    The old “Well they did it too!” argument is tired no matter which side it comes from. The question is, what are we going to do about it?

    This is when President Obama stands up straight and says “Hay”, then fails to debate the point or comment.

    Becuase that’s what Mr. Holbert wants to see.

    “What drugs are on that makes you imagine this is about Bush?”

    I believe what Ottodesu is referring to is that the PATRIOT Act, which gives the government the authority to collect intel in order to protect the US, was signed into law by GWB. The problems people have with how it’s used now are equivalent to the concerns many expressed when if was proposed and passed.

    @The Wolf In Your Midst

    In your case you’ll forget about it once a Republican comes into office. When a Democrat enters you’ll once again be talking about how our rights have been stripped. Rinse and repeat.

    Wrong. I was just as against this sort of thing during the last President’s administration. But thanks for trying!

    “I can assure you, this is not about spying on the American people…I have a high level of confidence that this is used to protect us…There are certain things that are appropriate for me to know that is not appropriate for the bad guys to know.” – Al Franken

    Because tyranny isn’t “bad” as long as you wave a flag while stomping on people’s faces.
