Those organizations that were targeted for special treatment by the IRS have a right to be angry.
It is ironic that the organization that believes the gov’t is spending too much money is trying to punish the gov’t financially and with legal actions that will cause tax dollars to be paid over to lawyers defending the gov’t, but not totally out of line for them to do so. Litigation is how people punish groups and organizations that overreach.
The root cause of this stupidity on the part of IRS personnel is the division between the parties and the inability of Rs and Ds to work together in a civil and honorable manner. The distraction these scandals create adds to the obstructions preventing legislation on jobs, education, healthcare, et al.
The first requirement for a democracy like ours to exist is a Civil society. Civility is being set aside in an effort for one side to stain the other with ineptitude and corruption. Sadly, both sides are stained with the blood and tears of Americans who are desperate for Congress to do their jobs, but legislators are too blind to see anything but their own blind, greedy, and too often, dishonorable goals.
    but Respectfully,

I agree with everything you just said except for the part of the lawsuit. No suite the IRS would do it all over again.

No hatred but the government should fear the people.

Got a post on that, even if your right, I take the Koch brothers over George Soros.

LOL, you’re citing a wiki article about a clearly liberal film as a source?

    That’s hilarious

Clearly appropriate based on? Please provide the criteria and be sure to cite federal laws, regulations or government policy that spells out the criteria.

What, you can’t? Didn’t think so, your overwhelming closed mind and bias are showing.

The information I’ve seen on the Koch Bros, despite their many trusts, foundations, and other charities, paints a portrait of some of the worst practices of very powerful corporations.
That said, the only excuse the IRS would have to TARGET their applications would be if there were blatantly false info. It appears the definition of degree to which these groups were OVERTLY politically involved was given red flag status.
However, without a warrant from a law enforcement organization, I do not believe the IRS has the right to target a specific organization, even if you and I find them – unsettling.

While “picking out” organizations based on “liberal” OR “Conservative” leanings, or Democrat or Republican isn’t “kosher”, organizations linked directly to TAX PROTEST, or PROTESTS AGAINST GOVERNMENT AND LAW, do get, and deserve a “flag” to investigate whether they’re playing, or defying, the system.

The “scrutiny” of “environmental” organizations under Reagan and the Bush boys was notable, so it’s not been a one sided event at IRS.

Based on the experience of a friend who worked for IRS, going after large corporations that cheat on their taxes wasn’t a step up the ladder under Reagan or GHW either.

You reply with an ad hominem with no factual basis to support your original argument/reply.

Your original post contained a sweeping generalization without supporting reference or citation and then you followed that up with a claim based on some presumption you can not support.

It gets even better when you attempt to gain the moral high ground by claiming a better education then some of those who have called you on your poorly written original post.

Just hilarious, you should ask for a refund on the education, you were poorly served.

David’s posts are clear and cogent. I think his education and communication skills are fine. you guys just don’t like what he has to say, so you’re creating a distraction.
