   The USA has some wonderful Max security prisons, some of which have room in them, and unlike too many of our elected officials, many Americans do not believe terrorists are any more likely to attack USA soil than they are already. Guantanamo makes us look bad to the world and failing to close its prison facilities down is just one more promise Mr. Obama failed to keep. It also adds to his failure to be "the most transparent administration in history’.
   German and Italian POWS were kept in the USA in WW1 and WW2. The war on terrorism is a different kind of war, but the honor and credibility of the USA is tarnished and military resources wasted under this current policy.
   I would be proud if the Gov of Va, my state of residency for most of my life, would extend an invitation to the President to house some of these people in one of Va.’s max security prisons.

    C – the President himself did not fail to close Guantanamo, the republicans blocked the transfer of the detainees to American soil. That was again reported just last week. Yes the President failed to keep that campaign promise, but not because he didn’t bother to try. As for your offer to have detainees housed in VA, nice try, that is blocked too, so no matter how badly your governor may want or be willing to take these prisoners, the republicans proved that impossible so the military resources wasted aren’t strictly his policy.

    We are a nation of laws. It is our adherence to those laws, and only when we adhere to them that grants us our morals and our moral superiority, if indeed we still have any. But I can see why you can’t recognize that fact.
