Our PM does the same thing. Possibly a power thing or stupidity, who knows.

Let us not forget giving them f-16’s and a couple of hundred tanks, compliments of the American taxpayers. Wow, it’s a good thing we don’t have money problems of our own since we can kick down a billion plus a year in aid to the muslim brotherhood…

Information about foriegn aid that, to my knowledge, does not get reported is: Where does the money go, exactly?
-
That is, say we give Egypt several billion (the amount of money usually is reported, or at least available), for ‘security’, where, exactly does that money go and are there strings attached? Which strings?
-
Would we give Egypt several billion and then they can spend it on whatever weapons they choose? Doesn’t seem too likely.
-
My guess is that some weapons manufacturer, who coincidently makes large ‘campaign contributions’ to key legislators, gets a contract with the US Govt. to deliver specific weapons to Egypt. That way, Egypt gets the arms, the weapons mfr gets tons of money, the CEO gets tons of money, the congressmen get tons of money, and Fox “news” viewers get to be outraged.

^ There would be comparable scenerios for food, or constructon/development types of aid, as well.

U.S. Foreign Aid In Millions of US Dollars to Egypt
Year Total
2001 1,990
2002 2,075
2003 1,915
2004 1,863
2005 1,819
2006 1,795
2007 1,758
2008 1,701
2009 1,500
2010 1,550
Includes both economic and military aid. Over the years since the 1967 peace accords the US has given the Egyptians over 200 fighter jets. Why all of a sudden do we have a problem with this?

“Why all of a sudden do we have a problem with this?”
Maybe because Barry said we need to release illegal alien criminals, layoff teachers and shut down airports because of the sequester?

The aid announced Sunday consists of two parts. One is a $190 million infusion for Egypt’s budget intended to address what Mr. Kerry said was the country’s “extreme needs.” That assistance has already been approved by Congress.
.
Mr. Kerry also pledged $60 million for the creation of a fund to support small businesses, which will provide “direct support to key engines of democratic change in Egypt, including Egypt’s entrepreneurs and its young people.”
.
As an incentive for Mr. Morsi to conclude an agreement with the I.M.F., Mr. Kerry said that he would work with Congress to get additional funds approved for Egypt once a deal was reached.

“The wealthiest .1 per cent of Americans now enjoy a life expectancy of 107.3 years and typically die in their sleep, while the bottom sixty per cent can anticipate living only 56.8 years and are statistically more likely to perish in hideous car accidents and firearm incidents, from drug overdoses, or after losing their lower extremities to diabetes.”

Is Holbert suggesting we do something about this trend, or that we help impoverish Egypt’s new government? Silly me. The latter of course.

So “across the board cuts” in the law means “shift the cuts from one category to another”? Ah, I see. I thought it meant “across the board cuts.”

Another ignorant cartoon. So, what we give to Israel doesn’t count as coming from US citizens? Because the bill is a lot higher there. The US has interests in the rest of the world, and cutting that off would help us about as well as cutting all the money from educating our kids. Money to help Egypt’s economy is well spent, as is money spend to help our own economy. There’s no choice necessary. We could raise a hundred times that amount by letting Medicare negotiate drug prices, or cutting the carried interest loophole, but the GOP won’t stand for the government saving money in ways that might hurt CEO salaries.

Although I was charitable in those years when I was prosperous, I don’t remember ever using borrowed money to be generous to others when I was broke.

Ding ding. Republicans would LOVE to shift cuts from defense to ‘entitlement’ programs. Can’t have it both ways. They shouldn’t have agreed to this.
