I heard Chuck Shumer on the TV this morning saying that they (the senate) would put together a budget but that it would contain more “revenues.” I can’t wait to see what they consider palpable on top of the tax increases they have already instigated. Considering the last “tax the rich” increase barely raised enough to cover the 50 billion spent for hurricane Sandy, it doesn’t surprise me there will be additional tax increases soon. I fear they are just getting started on increased taxes.

When you total the amount for federal income tax, federal payroll tax, medicare tax, fica tax, state disability tax, state income tax, state and county sales tax, county property tax, and every other tax that nickels and dimes, an American middle class family pays close to 50% of their income in taxes during a given year. And instead of reducing spending, our politicians debate how much more to raise taxes? We live in a bizarre age.

Must be one of them there evil rich Obama’s always talking about slaying for us. I mean there is NOOOOOO way Obama would tax the middle class more No way the lame stream media would never report it. Yes sir must keep up the wealth envy class warfare on the 1% oops I mean it is after the election 2%, we already bought the votes of the bottom 20% so now it is 2% is closer to reality in that the top 25% are taking it in the and the top 50% are paying.
But you know NY and Cal. and Ill. have had such GReat success in the targeted tax codes for the rich. I mean just look at them and those that are flocking from the states. But soon Obama will make sure they have no where to hide.
but then who will Obama go after next?

D’s have another chance to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory by ignoring the rampant waste, fraud, and lobbyist inspired loopholes that fill so many of our gov’t programs. Rs could greatly improve their image by giving their attention to that same waste and fraud prior to cutting programs out of existence This all or nothing approach our legislators apply to every aspect of gov’t not only creates gridlock, but it also perpetuates the billions in wasted money that benefits special interests of the left and the right.
The cartoon has a sad validity. It may well be argued that there are Dems taking trophies made of taxpayers, but it was the R’s that jammed that stick up the poor guy’s backside.
Don’t give into the temptation to pick a side when both sides are equally culpable. Blame both, write to both, and use what you know to tell them to do their jobs…not for lobbyists, not for corporate or ‘show business’ donors…but for all Americans.
    Respectfully,
    C.

Be reasonable. Every elected official is inaugurated under a mountain of debts, both financial and non-financial. They all control billions of dollars (‘you vote for my pork and I’ll vote for yours’). Do you want them to squander that money on infrastructure? Every cent is needed to repay those debts, plus, when they hand over billions for their Friends to pocket, those friends always give them generous baksheesh. The only difference between Dems and Reps are that they have slightly different sets of Friends (but there’s a large intersection of the two sets who gave to both candidates in the race to make sure their side was guaranteed to win).

Bring back the 75% tax rates on the rich from the 1960’s.
Restore the Glass Steagall act with sharp teeth.
Restore the estate tax which only hits the wealthy.
Institute universal healthcare like other western countries have.
Haul the thieves of wall street and the megabank CEO’s into federal court to be tried for their massive financial crimes.

I still believe that granting the President the power of “Line Item Veto” would give too much power to the executive branch, but is there any Constitutional reason the Senate and House majority and minority leaders can’t sit down themselves and do the same before sending a bill off to be signed? Riders are political currency and bargaining chips, and both parties will add ridiculous pork projects to kill a bill rather than work together to improve it. Why can’t we force Congress to police themselves? If Kansas wants more funding to improve VA hospitals, let it stay on, but remove Nebraska’s request for $80 million for a tennis racquet museum.

On a national scale I don’t know where they would get more revenue without taxing more or killing Social Security.
Locally they charge to get into parks, they have red llight caameras and charge $54 for a drivers license so you can vote. There are probably other fees I have not encountered yet.

In my last pay statement the Government kept 17.5 percent. So if anybody thinks there should be more taxes:

    Gifts to the United States
    U.S. Department of the Treasury
    Credit Accounting Branch
