Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
    And by opposing end them?”
    Good luck Mr. President.
@ Mortyfortyrant – I think you would make a bad tyrant. You’re not evil or even mean enough.

He also but the Iraq and Afghan wars on the books, which Bush didn’t. There’s a few trillion right there.

I always translate the translation to see if it comes out right. I got one back once (Japanese) about a frog having sex with a tomato. I now translate things on Google and check the translation on Bing or vice versa.

No he did not and yes I have looked at the numbers please stop looking at the numbers Obama people have given the public and press. Second why would you listen to the Military Industrial Complex gives when they have nothing to do with the economy except being a part of it not a re-source of the whole economy. Third as Commander and Chief Obama is a part of the Military Industrial Complex a lynch pin even.

“Sigh! Everybody please take a look at the numbers.”

Morty your post would be thought provoking except economically your omitting a very important point that even Obama has addressed. Of course we are sidetracked by his glowing speech (he’s so good at that), but the issue of jobs and unemployment has been conveniently omitted in his recent comments. Cutting military spending means people lose jobs, and unless the economy is viable enough, which it isn’t, that just increases the unemployment situation and continues the sideways trend of our economy. Even your fearless leader Angela has realized that austerity has to be carefully implemented or it can cause more problems than it addresses. It hasn’t been talked about lately, but our fearless leader’s “job council” that he formed well over a year ago hasn’t met in a year and never has made any useful recommendations for dealing with unemployment. Obama has never submitted a functional plan for dealing with economic growth (in recent history). . It’s kind of O’s approach to the deficit. He convened the Simpson – Bowles commission (a bi-partisan group) and then totally ignored all their recommendations. Both parties decided they were too politically difficult to implement.

Coronations/inaugurations are great feel good moments, but just like when Obama addressed the Germans at the (Brandenberg?) “rally” in 2008 it’s high emotion and little reality. All his inauguration speech (devoid of detail) did was lay out his legacy plan for his second term. I wish I could be “hopeful” about economic growth and improvement coming from his administration but I’m a realist…

Howie, you lie. Obama has reduced the deficit every year he’s been in office, and no Republican president has ever done that. More to the point, anyone who says they thinks that the deficit is the biggest problem America faces, but refuses to consider tax increases, is lying. All they want is to smack down the poor.

The truth doesn’t work for the GOP so, they lie early and often to fool the sheeple. Judging by the uniformed con posts, it’s working.

If you want to talk fiscal responsibility lets discuss the 1364 days since congress last passed a budget and without a budged you want us to believe that the left has cut the debt? That is not sarcasm that is a simple question that deserves an answer.

Those who complain about the debt just want to cut off Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, and limit the living population to a subservient domestic work force dedicated to producing more equally subservient domestic workers.

“Cutting military spending means people lose jobs, and unless the economy is viable enough, which it isn’t, that just increases the unemployment situation”

True. However, after the end of the Cold War and significant base closings and defense industry layoffs, HW Bush Sr. and Clinton managed to pull this off and get us to near full employment in the 90s.

“[Obama] has never has made any useful recommendations for dealing with unemployment”

Actually he has, but they all involve doing the only thing the government can do . . . which is massive government public sector hiring, like FDR’s CCC, WPA, etc. Of course, Republicans have blocked every move in this direction. So Obama has been obliged to wait for the private sector “job creators” to . . . create jobs.

“Obama’s people” are also known as “The Federal Government”. They can go to PRISON if they lie to the public”.

I with you could see the big smile all over my face right now. HEY EVERY BODY MORTYFORTYRANT SAY OBAMA’S PEOPLE WILL GO TO JAIL IF THEY LIE TO US".

Only if they do it under oath and then maybe.
