And they preach austerity for the people?
Clark Kent said, 5 months ago
That should be two elephants and no donkeys.

I wonder if Congressmen are going to get taxed (penalized?) for having an extra-super deluxe health care coverage plan, or did they exempt themselves from that, too.

@Radish
Someone has to pay for the little luxuries enjoyed by those who hold power. And it ain’t gonna be those who hold power. What conceivable use is power if you can’t abuse it?
So any fool can see that austerity MUST be imposed on those who lack the power to stop that imposition. It’s the way of the world.

One is less a donkey and more a blue dog.

It’s 535 people, not even a drop in the bucket. One no-bid contract to Halliburton wipes out anything Congress steals for itself. And here is the problem (and why it is correct that elephant AND donkey are depicted): your politicians have become a professional caste of THIEVES!
-
They are these special kind of thieves, like in “Oceans 12”, that do contract work on behalf of other people (lobbyists). It is disgusting! NASCAR and Barcadi in the fiscal cliff bill? No wonder the GOP broke the Hastert rule and didn’t want to publish the bill three days in advance! And the Dems are compliant, they had the bill as well. Thievery on the highest level and of staggering amounts of money, that is one of the core-problems in the U.S. today…

Since the President does not have the power of line-item veto, perhaps he should hold a press conference before the signing of such a bill, reading off the list of pork riders along with who proposed them.Putting a name to the pork may allow some voters to see how wasteful their elected officials are, and perhaps get some new ones in. I would be very interested to know how many Tea Party candidates have attached riders to bills, and what they were. If there were none, I could probably hold more respect for them.

Despite what Clark said both Democrats and Republicans are to blame. Democrats for being destructive and Republicans for being stupid.
The Democrats want government control of just about everything healthcare alone will take over a large percentage of the economy. Then there is no way to make one set of rules for everybody, people’s decisions have to be made by themselves.
Republicans have the best ideas but either our leaders don’t believe in them or they can’t communicate them.

Jack, your rant is lacking basic truth. The Affordable Care Act leaves health care in the private sector. Everything in the act that reduces health care costs is being attacked by Republicans (remember the "Death Panels’ lie? It’s back), because reducing health care costs is of no importance to them. Count your blessings. If the ACA fails, even it it fails because of GOP intransigence, a single payer system will be the only thing left, and you WILL have government run health care. Fortunately for America, that has been proven to work better than the private sector everywhere it’s been tried.

Not entirely in agreement with you, michael; we all must sacrifice. Why, just yesterday, I did without my wafer-thin mint.

But the poor have no bread to eat…

Well then let them eat cake..
you have no idea what that means do you?
MortyForTyrant said, 5 months ago
@Fourcrows
That’s an excellent idea! And to balance the budget you should make the “reading of the pork” pay-per-view :-)

Jack, you know, nicknames that are generated by a random-number-generator don’t pull a lot of muscle with me, no disrespect (as Jon Stewart would say)…
