   During my three week visit to Germany in 2008, we traveled from Grafenwoher(spelling? can’t do the umlaut) to Koln, to Heidelberg, Amsterdam, and Prague. It was only in the Czech republic we saw litter. We saw three plastic bags on the side of the highway in Germany and Amsterdam on three separate occasions, and NO plastic bottles or for that matter, paper litter. It was as if the whole nation was prepping for a photo shoot for better nations and gardens.
   While I feel this law on single serve water bottles is a bit silly, I would like to see higher fines on littering – it is a very preventable crime. It saves taxpayers money when state/city employees don’t have to spend time beating the grass to make sure there are no cans, metal, or glass in the grass about to be mowed. Litter damages mowers, encourages animals to scavenge along the road side, and if caught by the blades of a mower, can be thrown into fast moving traffic.
   There should also be more recycling cans at gas stations, fast food restaurants, and rest areas in order for people to have a place to dispose of such waste. We have such a beautiful nation, but just hitting an average off or on ramp by the interstate highway shows how little pride too many of our neighbors have in for our cities, states, and nation.

    In Switzerland, I was actually talking to a local in Murten who was smoking. He had a sudden sneeze, which popped the cigarette out of his mouth. He stomped it out, picked it up, walked about 30 feet to a trash can and dropped it in before resuming our conversation. It’s a cultural thing in Central Europe and Scandanavia. The people seem proud of how clean their communities are. In six months in Switzerland, I could have picked up all the litter I saw, put it in my pocket, and still had room for my keys and cellphone.

    Yeah, Ok we could make a pipe out of anything, one of my favorites was when “somebody’ took the plastic tube from around the flourescent light and then a hole was drilled into an 18” section of it. A person held a hand over the far end and then huffed and puffed until the tube was filled with smoke then you cover the bowl and build up pressure then let go ot the far end!

    But the waterpipe experience always seemed a waste to me. Run the smoke throught the water so it’s cooler when it gets to your lungs. Yeah, and how much of the thc is left in the water? Then you have a room filled with stoned idiots and a container of smelly water… Why add that stress to an environment intended to be stress free?
