When you turn 65, you can get free drugs, courtesy of Medicare Part D.
And, the pharmaceutical companies get to charge whatever they want, so they get free stuff, too!
And the best part is, nobody has to pay for any of it.

Your right, “Free Stuff” cartoons are seriously not funny and as stale as it gets…A lot of cartoonists on both sides need to step it up a notch…

Right after big pharma, agribusiness, big oil and corporations moving factories off-shore get theirs. And they call single mothers welfare queens?

“Another ignorant comment by Scott. Who blocked the bill to stop the tax breaks for oil companies. Hint: not one liberal in the bunch”!!!

True but what is your point, that tax breaks for oil companies gives us jobs that produce tax revenue. The welfare programs of the last 50 or 60 years has created a dept from a surplus that we lost under Johnson’s Great Society.

Welfare does not produce a return!!!

Back to today’s strip, Santa is smart enough not to give away free stuff to Adults.

Anyone who thinks that giving oil corporations tax breaks creates jobs, while supporting poor and unemployed people doesn’t create jobs, needs a basic class in economics. Corporations don’t make stuff UNTIL people buy stuff. They’ve got record amounts of cash on hand, but darned if they’re going to hire people while the middle-class is still suffering from attacks by our right-wing government. Oh, and the cartoon is stupid. Obama is not giving away free stuff.

The House of Representatives is where ALL tax and spend bills start. Easy to tell who just went to school vs those who got an education. Bigotry seems to be the main problem here, with FOX’s help.

How aptly you have named yourself, Braindead! As did millions of others, I served 3 yrs. in the military (@$78.00per month), and paid social security taxes for 44 years. What I get isn’t “free”…it’s deferred compensation for deferred gratification.

Today’s average retired senior . . . is taking out of the system . . . three times what they put in. Magic free stuff.

The cartoon has Obama talking about something he and Santa have in common. However, just as Santa doesn’t exist in reality, Obama’s desire to wreck our economy by wildly and irresponsibly ‘redistributing’ wealth is also a fantasy. He does believe that wise investing in infrastructure and innovation and education will return us to wealth and power as it did when FDR instituted the New Deal. He also believe that returning to the tax rates as they existed during the Clinton administration will help us return to the surpluses of that time.
With all the resistance and lack of cooperation from Dems and Reps in the legislature, such ambition will be difficult, but those who learn from good things in history can repeat those good things if everyone works together.

“Over hill, over dale, over the cliff we go!!”

My feeble attempt at humor, but pertinent. Sooner or later, dramatically plunging or painful cut by cut, we are in fiscal decline. We constantly read reports that say “we’re holding our own. At least we’re not negative (unemployment, GDP, manufacturing etc).” There is no standing still. You are either moving forwards or backwards, because a huge percentage of the world is moving forward. Here are current issues not being addressed:
10,000 baby-boomers are retiring every day. We are living substantially longer (thankfully), but we are outliving our S.S. and Medicare contributions. At some given point for most of us, they then become an entitlement…
The birth rates are down and there are fewer people to contribute to the S. S. kitty (sorry, trust fund).
The optimists say it is “funded” until decades from now. Okay, but it has to come out of the general fund, and the general fund is overdrawn and rapidly getting more overdrawn as time continues.
Realistically, neither political party has a plan for controlling spending, because it will negatively impact their constituents, and OMG we all know they can’t do that, it’s politically untenable. Add to that, both parties grow the size of government and increase government spending, debt etc.
Programs like Simpson – Bowles would attempt to slow the growth of spending first, then start to actually cut expenditures. Other attempts that identify government waste, redundancy, inefficiencies, are rapidly tabled from being pursued, because that would mean some politician getting some of his programs cut!
So in my not very humble opinion, buckle up and over the cliff we go!
