    Who didn’t see that coming? Those who still believe anything that comes out his face hole, that’s who.

    Anyone who thinks that our healthcare system doesn’t need reform has never been sick or injured ever in their life.

    The costs of the Affordable Care act haven’t changed. Rather the years of the analysis were shifted to exclude the years before it went into full effect (which makes sense) but also the cost savings were excluded from the new estimate to make it appear more expensive (which isn’t fair).

    No govn. program with this much resistance can survive.
    2 thirds of the states want exemption, a political movement was started to oppose it(tea party), half of congress is running on repealing it, as high as 75% of the populace has been polled to not like it, and it has a good chance of being declared unconstitutional.
    It’s hard enough to make something work when people are positive, impossible when there is this much opposition.
    The question is……how long do they keep it going and how much damage is done by doing so.

    I’m just surprised that the government admitted that they had screwed up the numbers. I also don’t understand why they didn’t research countries that have successful programs and institute something like their programs in this country. (not to include Canada or the UK)

    The most recent estimates on the Affordable Care Act show that it’s projected cost is DOWN not UP (see Paul Krugman in the NYT today for the data). I guess the GOP and conservative cartoonists have to make up lies about it, since there’s a lot of good stuff in the ACA. It’s a God-send for self-employed folks like me.
    And Dr Who, this is not government-run, or even government paid for. ACA leaves insurance to be run by private companies. And mikefive, only about 20% of Americans want ACA repealed. Most people wish it went farther, making repeal a losing issue for the GOP.

    yes, and the REASON premiums are up – well one of the reasons – is that the insurance companies are getting a reserve fund together to pay for all the new required coverage mandated by the ACA. You didn’t think THEY were going to eat the new costs did you?

    If even half the money that was spent fighting it was spent supporting it, it would be golden. Funny, the people most against there fellow man, woman and child having access to quality, affordable medical care are those that HAVE quality, affordable medical care.

    I’ll never understand why those who call themselves “Pro Life” are so against affordable health care

    Why not include Canada? I don’t claim we have the best system possible, but it’s sure a lot better than what the US has.

    The real shame is that faux news,the teabaggers and rash lardball have been able to denounce a program that in reality does what it was meant to do and make insurance better and cost effective. Stop listening to the naysayers and educate yourself on the truth of the act.

    @J-A Cox

    One simple solution. Allow insurance companies to compete nationally across state lines. There are cheaper insurance policies out there that I am unable to buy because my state doesn’t allow those companies to sell here.
    Prices are only lowered through competition and by increased innovation/efficiencies.

    WHAT cost savings have been excluded?
