Well, the host of the party(Barry O) says the party is rockin so I guess we should just close our eyes and settle in to his new normal.

Per capita GDP is up more than 10% since Obama took office. So your average American is better off. (Of course, the median income is down by about 10%, but that just means, as your mother told you, that you should stay off the median.)

What? You mean if a billionaire moves in next door & raises the average income on my block to a hundred million, I’m not actually better off??

Well, the host of the party(Barry O) says the party is rockin

    Not quite.

“The folks in the middle and at the bottom haven’t seen wage or income growth, not just over the last three, four years, but over the last 15 years,” the president said.

Does that make me feel better? Ummm… no!

Can you tell me what any conservative intends to do about this? More tax breaks for the already wealthy? We’ve been doing that for 30+ years. You’ll be hard pressed to find a conservative politician who even acknowledges that growing income inequality might be a problem.

Let’s see: Add in that the bounce house has lead and asbestos in it making it unsaleable by new EPA rules, that other EPA rules make using charCOAL on the grill illegal so they have to burn money instead, that the cake is made of toasted rice and tofu because of new healthy eating mandates, and that the pool is full of sharks posing as bankers and you have it!

Nope, Obama has never said the party is rockin. That’s a conservative-world talking point. The president has proposed spending on jobs and infrastructure, which is what Clinton, Reagan, Bush, and every other president did in times of slow economic growth, and it always worked. The GOP has consciously decided that hurting America under a Democratic president is more important than the idea of America itself. The cartoon is excellent.

Wow! Conservatives are in favor of lead poisoning now. I suppose it was only a matter of time, after all, liberals are against it, and that’s the only kind of analysis required…. (And no, coal has not been outllawed. It’s more expensive, more polluting, and more dangerous than natural gas, and that’s the free market at work. If coal can’t make it with the subsidies it currently gets, why would conservatives want to distort the market even more? )

    @ARodney

Wow! Progressives are scientific illiterates! When the standard for lead content is essentially zero, and unobtainable in many materials as a few atoms or a part per billion might be present then the EPA has an insane rule. But, that is where they are at with many of their standards today.
Yet, you ARodney glibly snivel about how those who would want scientifically based and economically obtainable limits with realistic levels set are somehow nuts. The nuts are the “zero-tolerance” crowd like you.
By the by, even the EPA admits that their new rules on Coal pollution will do nothing but raise the cost of building a coal plant, are not based on best commerical practice as required by law but rather on the commitment that power plant operators have made to include them in four new plants to be built and have never actually been used in practice.
Your ignorance of the actual rules and regulations that the “Alphabet soup” of the government has made is abundantly apparent in your answer. Many of those rules today are grotesquely expensive to comply with and do NOTHING to make things better be it the EPA, OSHA, the CPA, or any other agency of the federal government.
It is you that distorts reality with vauge generalities and logical fallacies.

OK, this has nothing to do with anything..just a curious question. Why is it ok to use the word “honky” but if the “n” word was used, the comic strip would be considered racist? Isn’t “honky” a racist belittlement?

Obama is the latest host, this has been a long party with it starting in late 1979 onward. D and R they still helped the rich and not the rest of us.

As Dr. Reich says it looks like suspension bridge from 1920 to 2012 as it goes up then down then up and now down again. WE are right where we were in 1928. You know what comes next.

You live here in Maine too? About 10 years ago, there was a boom of people from away building million dollar homes on cheap lots, which raised the property tax rate on their neighbors’ homes, forcing most of them to leave. Apparently everyone loves lobster but nobody wants to live near a lobsterman. Now, a lot of those houses are empty, as nobody can afford them, and nobody wants to pay the taxes on the smaller homes around them.
