How nice that rich cartoonists don’t have to demean themselves by shopping at Walmart. The rest of us, on the other hand, shop there because we have to.

You most certainly do not “have to” shop at Walmart. There are alternatives, cheaper ones even.

Working for a low wage is one topic to discuss. But not having health insurance for full time employees is horrible.

It a shame. That people can cross a busy street and when the car hits them it is the drivers fault. Same thing here all the people went to wal mart and brought the imports which shipped their jobs out now they want to blame wal mart. I do not like wal mart because they started the imports but we the people went there and brought the stuff so who is at fault

The moral of the cartoon: Walmart should pay employees more. One unintended consequence if that were to happen: Walmart would have to raise prices, fewer people would shop there, and Walmart would need fewer employees due to fewer customers.

Agreed. I have only been in one of those stores twice. Did not purchase anything. I see Walmart as a source of damaging the USA not helping. If my budget can’t afford it I do without. Amazing how much stuff we don’t really need.

Walmart’s low wage strategy puts the burden of health care on federal and state governments. Every time someone shops there, they are paying a hidden extra cost to provide this assistance to the employees.

Walmart even gives new employees information on getting on SNAPS (food stamps) and such since they know they are underpaying their workers terribly. It should be a crime.

No one “has to” shop at Walmart. Those who do think that they are saving money. Logic and deduction should be a required course in elementary school.

Walmart is the only store within 19 miles of my house – save for convenience/gas and downtown’s “upscale boutiques” – owned by three wealthy local poohbahs and seriously overpriced. I go to Walmart or do without and that includes food. So no actually here in the real world I do not have a choice. Should note that Walmart is the only big job provider as well. Can you say “company store”?

..I don’t see why they would have to raise prices…

Walmart protests were a bust. Like OWs, they were worthless.
