    Chickenhawks have backbones?

    Thankfully many Republicans and some Democrats had the backbone to tell Barry NO!

    In 2011, there were over 2.6 million calls to the NICS/Brady Bill instant criminal background check system, with about 14,000 rejections (about 1/3 were false positives), the Federal Government only chose about 80 cases for prosecution and got about 14 convictions. This is how your Federal Government is protecting you? The progressives and the libs want to expand this? How about you fix the system you already have before you try to make it even bloat-ier?

    Thanks to NRA lobbying, the ATF (the only agency allowed to enforce firearms regulations) are as strong as wet toilet paper. Bolster the ATF and let them do their jobs (and require background checks for all firearms sales).

    And thanks to our 2nd Amendment you are free to exercise your 1st. However if you continue to object, you are free to leave.

    Why is it that when a senator follows the wishes of his constituency, he is accused of having no backbone?

    The GOP needs to stop blocking a permanent ATF director from being confirmed. They have been blocking this since 2006 when the position started requiring a confirmation.

    Harry Reid should have grown a spine and done REAL filibuster reform.

    Which the democrats would have objected to when it was their turn.

    @zoidknight

    If someone wants to object to the point of filibuster, let them stand up and do it the Mr. Smith way. That was the ONE thing I had to respect Rand Paul for.

    Take a look at the polls – 70% of the people want more gun control. And a permanent ATF director needs to be confirmed.

    80% to 90% of the populace want expanded background checks. The Senate vote was in favor of the bill but it was “filibustered” by the Republicans.
    It would never have passed the House anyway.

    Bravo – but neither zoid or Gov will pay any attention.

    Interesting X-rays there. No heart, no brain, no spine, and a compacted sphincter from gulping down too many lobbyist handouts.

    “Why punish the lawabiding?”

    I will accept the fact that you are one of the law-abiding. Now, please tell me how a background check would punish you.
