If Benedict had respect for the followers of his faith, he wouldn’t have led the massive cover-up that protected abusive priests at the expense of so many innocent children.
Do you really have that short of a memory? The abuse has been going on for decades, along with the cover-up. JP II and Benedict are dealing with the aftermath of the cover-up and the scandal. AND most of the cover-up was at the local diocesan level. “He who is without sin may cast the first stone” I don’t think any of us qualify…..
What a novel idea. I doubt the country would suffer their absence if all 535 of them retired and we got a new crowd that came in with term limits to govern the length of their stay and benefits comparable with those of us that work for a living…
Agreed 100%. With all the perks and benefits bestowed on members of Congress and the President, it’s no wonder why most of them are so out of touch with the real pain average Americans have lived with the past 4 years. Maybe, considering all the vacation time they get, a teachers salary would be more appropriate.
What are you people; Kidding? The priest diddling boys has been going on for Millennia! . It’s only a “Problem” in the eyes of the church since altar boys stopped growing up to be preists. . Men making “do” with boys in environments where heterosexual activities are forbidden is par for the course across the entire globe.
Normally, you & I have quite similar opinions but not this time. If the Pope had any genuine respect for the “public” much less the many millions of Catholics all over the world, he would never have allowed any sort of cover up of pedophile priests. He certainly wouldn’t have been actively involved in the world-wide cover up of their activities, sheilding them from prosecution, and moving them around to different parishes to victimize more children. He has long cared more for the appearance of the church than he has for the mental or spiritual welfare of those Christianity claims to serve. He and many others should be rotting in jail.
