    @Cinci Steve

    The National Debt was tripled under Ronald Reagan, and again doubled under GW Bush. It has increased by about 50% under President Obama in his first term. And it is the deficit that adds to the National Debt.

    The deficit for 2009 was some $1.4 trillion, but that budget had already been set by the previous administration of GW Bush. The actual first deficit under President Obama was for 2010 and was just about $1.27 trillion, the deficit for 2011 did go up slightly to $1.3 trillion, but then the budget for 2012 (the last actual budget deficit) dropped to $1.087 trillion, and the projected deficit for this year (even before the Fiscal Cliff deal that would chop another $60 billion form the deficit) is projected to be $0,937 trillion, and the projections for the last years of President Obama’s 8 year steadily decrease from that to about $500 billion.

    Sorry for your ideology, but those are the facts from the non partisan Congressional Budget Office (which even if it was partisan would be from Congress and not form the Obama.administration)!

    However, I do not expect to see the facts have any affect upon either you or the other ultra conservatives on these boards!!

    I saw Eric Cantnor, R-Va, shake hands with Mr. Obama and smile as he presented the President with an inaugural gift during the breakfast in Statuary Hall. They were polite, even friendly.
    I have heard many calls for Mr. Obama to make a greater effort to reach out to the legislation and I would like to add my voice to theirs. Our best Presidents have been men who invited their opponents to the White House and Camp David for dinner, drinks, and conversation. Even if nothing is resolved, it is incumbent on the President to at least show the American People he is making every possible effort to try. Staying in the White House and only talking to media and aides will not build bridges or create jobs.
    I hope Mr. Obama conducts his second term with a greater visible effort than the first.
    Respectfully,
    C.

    President Obama bounces right back up.
    I predict that his inauguration will be determined to be the best this year and for three years henceforth.

    The elephant should also be one of those punching things. They have both punched uselessly at each other for years.

    Closer to 4, actually. And the Dems didn’t stonewall everything Bush proposed simply because Bush proposed what they actually wanted to do.

    The deficit is the unbudgeted money Bush used in Iraq coming home to roost. No ones has any idea how much money Bush & Co. wasted in Iraq. Hell, they lost one billion dollars in currency loaded on pallets in Baghdad alone.

    Try $12 billion. This came over with the “Coalition Provisional Authority”, presided over by Paul Bremer. All of this was in cash, loaded into a C-130 with forklifts. It was gone before Bremer’s year was over. When asked in Congressional hearings where the money went, his answer was that Iraqis are not well known for their accounting procedures. No follow-up questions were asked.
