If it didn’t affect his ability to do his job (which I’m not convinced it did), WHOTHEHELLCARES? . This isn’t reality TV, people. Why are we disqualifying people from important jobs based on their sexual preferences? He can be having sex with goats for all I care. Can he still do the job or not?
Don’t you think that a total lack of morality should be a pre-requisite for running the CIA? CIA and morality don’t really seem to fit in the same sentence.
A little observation of the human race suggests that people compartmentalize very well. It’s one of our greatest talents. The number of saints-in-every-area is quite small, and if we had to wait for them we wouldn’t have made even a tiny fraction of the progress we have.
Old story out there about KGB confronting a French diplomat with pic of him with a Mistress and he said " Great, I’ll take three 8×10 and two wallet size.". We do have to get over sex being criminal.
Although the act in this case was not illegal, it leaves him vulnerable to blackmail and forced espionage. Also, what if the lady turns out to be a foreign agent?

I need clarification on this blackmail thing. . “Give us troop strengths or we will tell your mommy.” . This is not plausible. Explain how having sex forces him to betray his country. . Is that what you would do? Can you not see others do not equate sex as more important than country?
“Fearless leader, this is Tanya. The general always has strategy sessions at 10:30 PM on his cell phone. Here is his number. He’s also out of his apartment every Tuesday from 1 until 4 PM, and he loves a good gin and tonic. And if you let him win in golf, he drinks too much and is easier to get details from.”
Just an example. I agree that a person’s private life shouldn’t matter, up to a point. But when you’re the head spook, you had better suspect that everyone around you is a spy.
..I once worked with a guy whom cheated on his wife quite often,but still,was a very hard,qualified,happy go lucky great worker.Sometimes one leads to the other,other times,they have nothing in common…
It has happened that you can be in love with more than one person. Except cheating can make all three people miserable, because truth has been slain somewhere along the line.
