    Good point. You’d have thunk the communists would have printed new money after the 1917 overthrow of the Russian government.

    I’m pretty sure he’d get the sarcasm. He just wouldn’t care.

    Unless the sarcasm were delivered in Russia itself. Then it might get a jail sentence or worse.

    I have some German bank notes from the 20s. Early 20s have nice big, pretty, multi-colored bills… and they started getting smaller and simpler. Ended up with slips of paper stamped on one side for millions of Marks. The collapse of a state economy has dire (and unpredictable) political results.
