Two hundred years ago tobacco was considered medicinal too…

Guys, dial it back a bit. I think Danziger is just having some fun with the pot-to-schools link. I don’t think he is anti-legalization at all!

The appeal of legalized marijuana was you could tax it. The tax money raised from pot should be geared towards essential, and typically hard to fund adequately areas like schools. I rather see the money go there than to the cops.

I wonder how many good young minds we’ve lost to alcoholism?
Ah, but it’s easier to sell war and hate to angry drunks than to mellow potheads….

Nicotine sulfate is still a powerful and effective insecticide. THC in combination with the synergistic chemicals in marijuana have NO “direct” lethality, and great medical use. NO it is not correct to compare tobacco and marijuana “contents”. BTW: coal fired plants put out far more carcinogens around the world than tobacco, at least to the masses. But RJR and PM have done their best to hook people around the world on tobacco, starting at age 3 or so in the third world.

Which, nicotine IS addictive chemically, while marijuana is NOT! (psychological addiction is NOT the same thing!)

Plus, even though I don’t use the stuff (or anything else, including alcohol or tobacco), it should be noted that you apparently cannot overdose on marijuana. It just isn’t toxic.

    Yes, it is toxic.
Even water is toxic in a high enough dose.
THC starts getting toxic at 500 mg single dose levels.
Hard to achieve, almost impossible with natural unrefined product, but toxic nonetheless.
One study had to be cancelled because too many of the test animals (dogs) were dying.

I don’t know how toxic Cannabis is to dogs, but a DEA law judge said a person would have to smoke 1500 lb. in 10 minutes to overdose. Not that toxic to humans.

good one jeff. to bad we don’t think enough of education in this country to raise taxes for its betterment. but i do agree that taxing the use of addictions -including alcohol and cigarette’s (tobacco) can help government’s raise money.

I think there is quite a “logical disconnect” as to using the funds from purchasing mary jane to smoke for “recreational use,” which may/can limit your thinking capacity to a stump, as a source of funds for school which makes you smart until some student brings it in and starts their friends on mary jane which stunts their thinking….in other words…….
There seems to be legitimate relief from medical marijuana, and occasional use of it may or may not be as destructive to the body as alcohol, but the taxing of “sins” as a punishment and a source to hopefully correct and prevent children from starting in the first place can also be strewed as an encouragement to use the drug as it benefits the education of children………
