Jeff Danziger provides a scathing international take on politics, finance, and everything else you aren’t allowed to discuss at the dinner table. Combining spot-on caricatures with razor-sharp writing, this feature will make you listen a little more closely to what they tell you on the news.

When they drop the baby, that $h¡ t is going to run down hill on to us. Navy in Norfolk has already told ship repair yard to notify their people to be ready for lay off.

Only the congress can change the law. The president only gets to sign laws. He’s proposed several good, middle-of-the-road solutions. The GOP has passed nothing, and is still on vacation.

Actually Japan took over China’s spot for the #1 buyers of our debt. The Chinese have been cutting back their purchases overall and they have been buying shorter term treasuries. They used to buy 5 and 10 year treasuries, now they buy 1 year and under.

Back under Ron Reagan, we were looking at massive RIFs due to Republican “across the board” cuts, and got a last minute “reprieve”. Many more times, REPUBLICANS have threatened the government operatons, and the nation’s well-being, to fight for cuts, but NO tax increases, or stable income to pay for what THEY BOUGHT!!
Yes, we need to adjust “social programs”, and look for greater efficiency, and less fraud, which Obama and yes, Democrats, and even a very few Republicans, have asked for, but the “sequester” is again, Boehner following the track of protect the waste if it profits MY “constituancy” in corporate, or “investor” circles, the “new” party supported by TEA constituants, which is “my way” or no highway maintenance, just more junk for “defense”, Medicare ripoffs, or wasteful government deregulation to benefit, “industry”.

Republicans hate government so much that they are willing to cause another major recession. Which we are just recovering from, caused my Dubya, and fought out of by Obama. Here we go again. Thank you GOP.

Many of Mr. Danziger’s characters have an asian look to them, it seems a part of his art technique. This cartoon is unusually bipartisan from the left leaning Mr. Danziger.

It is the children at risk. Whether it’s from the crisis of debt our nation’s unregulated, unsupervised and unsupportable spending is creating and the crippling interest rates on our deficit, or the damage to education, children’s health, and other child programs that will be lost in budget cuts, our children are being thrown around by two partisan groups who care more about monied lobbyists and donors than they do the future of America.
^
The children of today are the leaders and voters of tomorrow. If they decide to enact a temporary halt to senior health care on us when we, who are in our 20s to 40s now (I’m 55), are in our 50’s and 80’s later, it may look like vengeance, but it to them, it may look like justice. Like the Japanese gov’t guy said a few weeks ago…old people are a drag on the economy and should hurry up and die to save their nation’s economy.
Hell is, indeed, for children.
Regretfully,

it’s true, the children and babies once they are born who get the short end. this probably hasn’t the death of the old. with out aid to heat and cool their rooms they will have heat strokes and freeze.
I wish those at the very top were willing to help, if not the poor including poor children who are about 40% of those poor, then at least be willing to help the infrastructure from crumbling around them.
Not sure if I can spell itt but it was the nobles oblige. the taking responsibility for the well being on the nation.

@HOWGOZIT
He proposed the sequester as a way out of an even worse disaster for the nation to which the Republicans were holding us hostage. He never claimed it as his preference. His preference is that congress do its work, get us out of recession, and pay its bills. If Republicans hadn’t blocked more stimulus, we’d have the jobs that Cantor claims he wants. Instead, at GOP insistence, we’ll lose an estimated two million jobs to the sequester.

There will be a bill passed at the last minute full of pork. Mark my words because I will be pointing them out!

There is NO reasoning on either side. Nobody wants to stop ANY spending. But we can’t keep borrowing 41 cents of every dollar we spend. It has to stop. China isn’t lending and the fed is buying our debt by printing money out of nowhere. 45 billion a month! What we really need is for the Martian Ambassador to address a joint session with congress and the executive branch & then start over. :O)

Rednecks: “Cut spending, cut spending, cut spending.”
Obama: “Ok, we’ll cut spending with sequestration.”
Rednecks: “No-o-o-o-o-o, don’t cut spending.”

Yet you say sequester is bad when Republicans want it and good when Democrats want it?
