I was wondering how many of the kids we adopt from there are handicaped. I heard they pushing a lot of handicaped kids here

The point that the President was making was that anything he said then would be blown way out of proportion and used against him. Thanks for proving that point with your incessant harping.

Those orphans will think twice before criticizing Russian officials for human rights abuses again, that’s for sure.

When our children are gunned down as they cower in their classroom, soiling their underwear, screaming and crrying for mommy, daddy, santa claus or Jesus to help them…
    .
But let us let those Americans adopt our children and send them to the killing fields of Sandy Hook!
    .
    Co incidence?

How many kids, especially with “problems” remain unadopted here in the U.S.? It’s also interesting the one couple making news for not getting a Russian kid said “the lord”, made the choice for them, and you can’t deny “the lord”. Which begs the question, why did “The Lord”, make them go half way around the world to seek adoption, with kids “at home” needing love, and dedicated caring parents? (who may be sane?)

I find cross-country adoptions problematic, the children are uprooted and don’t know who they really are. For this reason that new law is OK with me, and if I had a say it would be adopted worldwide. The likes of Madonna don’t need to show their “human side” by adopting children from halfway around the world…

I’m reading the Pete Townshend Autobiography. Guess what? He’s talking about the conditions in Russian Orphanages.
    .
The way the story goes is he was out and saw a kid trying to raise funds for a project he was working on to create a new level of orphanages. His story was that his parents were junkies and died so he was sent to the orphanage. There he was involved with petty crime in order to survive. If you were caught by the police, they brought you back to the orphanage where Mr. Hannigan would just brush the incident aside so he could go back to swilling his Vodka.
    .
He eventually got to go to a “private” orphanage that was run by the Mafia and the warden was more Fagen and the crime became organized.
    .
The girls were kept for “other” purposes.
    .
I’d have ****Spoiler Alerted*** but Who fans already know Ivory Soap about this book’s story and… well we know how Quadrophenia and Psychoderelict end too but that doesn’t stop us listening to them again and again….

    OK, I finished it.
    .
It’s ok. I love Pete Townshend, I wish nothing but the best for him. I guess I can say that I was surprised in the number of ways that he and I share personality traits. But this is not to say that I share nearly enough of them to be the hard driving perfectionist he is.
    .
The thing about the Russian orphanage was that the kid who was doing the fund raising gave PT his number and a year or so later PT tried to call but the number belonged to someone else so PT “googled” russian orphanage charity something and up popped picture of Russian boys being sexually abused.
    .
What this says to me is that we need to rethink “American Exceptualism” in light of the new reality.
    .
Organizations such as The George W. Bush administration and the NRA, and the TEA Party Patriots and the UN House of Representatives (those lovers of “Freedom Fries”) have lowered our respectability to the point where Vladimir M07#3RF@<k!N& Putin can say “Keeping our children here is better than sending them there!”
    .
And he has the moral highground!
    .
I know I’m ashamed! How about you?
