Congress not paying attention to important issues? I’m shocked that they could be so easily distracted by trivialities. Shocked, I say.

Reagan did his best to ignore AIDS.

Because his days of chancing an STD were long past.

Bush did the most to help people with HIV. O has been criticized for not doing enough.
I love being ignored. I don’t have to listen to trolls calling me names.

sorry but back in the dark days we did not know what AIDS was or how to stop it. It was an issue then. Now that we do what it is and how to prevent it the AIDS lobby is nothing but a racket. Yeh, Bush sent billions over to Africa. What a waste. Do you know what % of condoms we sent over there was used in a act it was meant to be in order to stop the spread? 10% at one time. Most of the “free” condoms where actioned at the port and used for water proofing roofs.

Motley: the next time you feel compelled to post about something you know nothing about, just stop. Following my advice should stop you from posting pretty much all the time.

Aid to Africa is and has been pilfered and sold on the black market for as long as I can remember. Whether it’s Red Cross aid, emergency food, it doesn’t matter. It is disheartening that the condoms were diverted, but at least 10% of them were used. Many cultures in Africa condone a married man having multiple partners. As a result, much of the population of Africans of child-bearing age is infected. It is too large a problem to ignore, on many levels.
Early on, AIDS was largely ignored, and certainly not treated as the epidemic it was to become, while the number of victims were growing. So was crack cocaine. This is a fact. At first, the victims of AIDS were drug users, especially IV drug users, and the combination of promiscuousness plus unprotected sex. And most users of crack were in the inner cities. Most of those people would fall into groups like minorities and gays. This is a fact. Was there a connection?

@Ms. Ima
Bush PROMISED the most for people with HIV but then didn’t follow through. He also focused on abstinence-only programs, calling condom use into question as an effective protection against STDs.

You have to admit Ima is entertaining. Kind of like a one man Three Stooges.

If it not aids it will be something else. Why should I have to pay for people that drive a car without brakes. If they miss aids then there will be another std around the corner. So it is up to them to take care of themselves.

I’ll acknowledge Ima here. Bush did (or attempted to do) tremendous things for AIDS/HIV victims in Africa and deserves credit.
