   Missouri Senate candidate Todd Akin said that pregnancy from rape is “really rare” because “if it’s a legitimate rape,the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.” This scum is leading in the Missouri polls! Missouri women better think about voting to ensure this knuckle dragger doesn’t become a U.S. Senator.

   Spontaneous abortions occur when the fetus is very ill, or abnormal enough genetically. Trisomy 21, Down’s Syndrome babies have a smaller survivable genetic defect because the 21 chromosome has a smaller amount of genetic material. We don’t see trisomy 1 or trisomy 3 survive. The smaller the chromosome number,the larger the chromosome, copied or genetic deletions large enough are not viable.

   I think Ahab was simply replying to “the female body being able to shut things down” part of dtroutma’s post. I did not read in Ahab’s reply that it was relative to rape.

   What doe that even mean? a woman’s body has a way of shutting WHAT down?? a baby? Those little buggers don’t just curl up and die if they are from rape or incest! What shuts down? You mean a woman can keep herself from getting pregnant? If that worked we would have a LOT Fewer people. .A womans “lady parts” shutdown?? What does that mean??

    I saw a documentary, and they said it’s true, the female can shut her body down if she decides she doesn’t want to get pregnant with the male having sex with her.

    
    Of course, they said the female has to be anatine, but how hard can that be?

    om Q R is quite correct about the intent of my post. I was assuming that Todd Akin somehow came to a very ignorant position based on the fact that some pregnancies end in spontaneous abortion.
