Jeff Danziger provides a scathing international take on politics, finance, and everything else you aren’t allowed to discuss at the dinner table. Combining spot-on caricatures with razor-sharp writing, this feature will make you listen a little more closely to what they tell you on the news.

I hate to see the Republican party go. The old party of Eisenhower was a sane, reputable and civil group of American citizens. Todays party has no resemblance to that at all. Very sad!

^ Yes, there was a time when the parties could work together. This bill should have been acceptable to moderate Republicans – if there are any left – but they seem to have decided that bringing Obama down was more important than trying to solve a problem.

^ The moderate Republicans have been driven out steadily over the past twenty years, sorry to say, as they’ve often been among the most sensible, intelligent, and capable members of the GOP. (I miss Lowell Weicker.) I’ve even voted for one right here in Massachusetts – Bill Weld – who got blocked to be Ambassador to Mexico by Jesse Helms for not being right-wing enough, which gives you some idea. Amusingly, I think Scott Brown is a moderate Republican, but he’s got quite the high-wire act to get re-elected here, so it’s hard to tell what he will actually do, since he clearly wants to be re-elected.

^ I used to live down the street from Weld, and I would see him in his yard from time to time. I never met him, however. Where I grew up, in Maryland, Mac Mathias was a great example, and I know many Democrats who used to vote for him. Historically the Republican party had a great tradition, and it’s sad to see the party destroyed from within.

I remember when Goldwater looked like an extremist, now he seems like a moderate.

But if you watch Fox News, Coulter was routed by far-left wing nuts who oppose free speech and are totalitarian.
Never mind that she said Muslims should not ever be allowed to fly and should just get on their magic carpet for travel. When questioned about it by a Muslim student, she said if you don’t have a magic carpet, get a camel.
Intolerance = bigotry = hate = violence. Stop.
