Well at least it’s not about the Yankees.

Hitler in Hell – we can only wish.

I’ll have to go back 8 years to find Danzingers comic that reads “Hey Hitler, check this out. They’re calling Bush a radical, commie, fascist nazi.”

On second thought, I won’t waste my time…

Actually, Ted Rall did a very good cartoon on that subject, explaining why people should quit comparing Bush to Hitler.

    1. Hitler was a decorated veteran who fought in WWI

    2. Hitler had a string of military successes

    3. Hitler was democratically elected…

Motive – Good post, all true. I will add to my first post that Hitler looks way to comfortable in the cartoon, I wish him a lot more pain.

Uncalled for motive–but I knew Warren would give you a pat on the back.

Just waiting around for Karl Rove, who’s out having a beer with Goebbels.

I’m just quoting, HOWGOZIT…but of course it is all true.
And I agree with Ken that Hitler needs a LOT more pain. Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle did a modern riff on Inferno, which is a great book, and just released a sequel called Escape from Hell which I recommend, in which I believe Hitler is in the 9th Circle (betrayers, frozen in the ice in painful positions). They put others in the Evil Counselors, who were set aflame in pits. Gotta admire the creativity of Dante or his inspiration…

There are numerous atheist out that post on this site and most of the liberals have a God in their own image.
The liberals are for everything that is against the God of the bible.

They then state they hope Hitler is in hell or he is in the 9th circle or whatever.

Where do you think yourself is going to end up some day?

All of your liberals out their remind of that movie with Johnny Depp in called the 9th gate.

There is a large group of millionaires and they are all Satan worshippers.

At the beginning this very wealthy man hangs himself. He has this book and from the plot of the show he thinks that he can cheat death. Apparently he does not, he dies.

They have Johnny depp on a mission to get this book. He goes over to Europe and escapes death numerous times.
They have a big Satanic ritual. The actual person whom sent Johnny on this mission has killed numerous people and kills numerous people at this event. He then takes this book and goes to a location. He has his mind made up that he can cheat death. Splashes himself with fuel and dies.

That is the story for all the liberals on this site.

The ironic thing about this is if you believe in Satan, you then have to believe in God.
If you were to do that the fact would have Satan as defeated.
What do they think is going to happen to them if they follow this path?

I don’t believe in Satan any more than I believe in God, but I have known a Satanist or two over the years and their position is that Satan is misportrayed in the Christian Bible.

It stands to reason - you can’t expect an honest portrait of Satan from Jehovah’s followers any more than you could expect an accurate portrait of the Hatfields from the McCoys, or of Ulysses S. Grant from a Confederate soldier.

One popular variant of Satanism holds that the “Us” vs “Them” in question isn’t “Good” vs “Evil” but “Thralldom” vs “Freedom”. “Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven”, and all that. They don’t share the convictions of the Christians that the outcome of the “Eternal Battle” is a foregone conclusion. They’re aligning themselves with what they see as the stronger side, or at least one that, if the struggle really IS Eternal, and therefore incapable of EVER being resolved, will provide them with the greatest benefit to their own persons.

What? NOW you’re insisting on reason and logic?

Reason and logic have no place in the world of religion.

How about this for a side note. A whole lot of what you think is Western Christian Catholic Based Religion (Catholic as in universal) comes from other religions. The Heaven and Hell routine really came into common usage after the Norse religions influenced the myths.

Now, in Norse Mythology there is (was) a place called Valhalla (much like Westchester, NY) where, IF you died WHILE fighting bravely AND were noticed by the Valkyre you’d go. If you got there then you would fight each day to the death and then wake up tomorrow and do it all over again (whilst feasting and doing the other things that men do when not burdened by the pressures of providing for a wife and family).

The idea was that you were supposed to get ready to fight along side the Gods, (Odin, Thor…..err ummm… those are the two that I knowfrom the comic books….but the rest of this is from real books) in their battle against the Ice giants. Now here’s where it gets interesting. The prophesy said that the God’s were going to lose the war to the Ice Giants. So, to your point about Satanists… They’re yust like dose crazy wikings!

Also, the war happened, and the God’s lost, just like the prophesy said! You gotta wonder about a people with a mythology with an unhappy ending!

Bottom line striper, who the heck cares what other people believe and what they are willing to be illogical about?

Meanwhile, the substance of Danziger’s cartoon iscorrect, but in a sort of, “I can’t believe this is still what we’re talking about!” sort of a way.

There was a line on an old Murphy Brown episode when one of their past characters (Stuart Best played by Wallace Shawn) showed up as one of the “Freshman Class” elected in ‘94. The guy was a past member of the show who had been cut for not being very bright. When Stuart started saying “Well, alls I know is Newt Gingrich says…” and Murphy cut him short by saying “Any sentence that starts out with ‘Newt Gingrich says’ is immediately discounted!”

So should it be with people who say “Obama’s a ” (Fascist, Marxist, Liberal, Socialist, Nazi etc etc etc…) They should just be discounted immediately. End of discussion. They don’t deserve response beyond “Go to your room and don’t come out until you want to behave like a grown up!”

They don’t speak much about Hell in the Bible. There is a place called Gehenna, (I think that’s what it’s called) but most of our modern conception of Hell comes from the pagan Styx and Dante’s Inferno.

  14. fritzoid

    fritzoid said, 11 days ago

CF, technically Styx was just the river that encircled the Classical underworld (you would be ferried across by Charon). The underworld itself was Hades (named after its ruler).

For most of the dead, Hades (or Hades’ realm, if you prefer) was just sort of drab and featureless. No pleasures, no pains, no passions, just boredom and forgetfulness (brought on by drinking the waters of Lethe, another river).

The chosen few would get to spend eternity in Elysium, where they would eat and drink and dance and sing and love. You didn’t necessarily have to be good to get there, you could qualify by being a hero or artist or whatever.

There was a district of the Underworld that WAS set aside for eternal torment of great sinners (or others who had simply offended the gods sufficiently), called Tartarus. That’s where Sisyphus rolls his boulder, and Tantalus starves and thirsts, and so on.
