    Beck went on ABC News and said McCain would have been a worse president than Obama and that he would have voted for Hillary over McCain. Also said he would vote for Obama in 2012 if he keeps all his promises and doesn’t turn us into a Marxist country. Beck and Rush agree on very little.

    Saw Rush on Leno last night. He’s lost quite a bit of weight.

    Rush took Jay’s ‘Green Car’ Challenge.

    This is a Course with Pop-Up Obstacles of Al Gore and Ed Begley Jr.
    I knew what Rush would do when Jay said he would be a Guest and he would take the ‘Green Car’ Challenge. I knew Rush would hit Al on purpose, I was correct he did hit Al; he then backed over Al and hit him again. I also knew he would hit Ed. Oh he did this with such Glee. He had a he SEG on his face when he hit Al, backed over him, and run over him again.

    Rush is a legend in his own mind. I would be willing to bet if he told his followers to eat poop, they would eat poop.

    BCS: I think the change in some people can be explained. I’ve watched the career of Dennis Miller, who used to be a very liberal comedian until 9-11, when he suddenly became a far-right winger, spewing hatred and violence and prefering ideology over reality, all of the result of fear and anger from the attack. Beck’s sudden loss and the resulting choice of “faith over fact” also came from fear and anger of his loss.
    I think there is a pattern here. How often are we treated to the anger and fear of conservatives on these blogs? Fear and anger is the cause; conservativism the effect. Emotions cloud rational judgment.

    Actually, charlie, there are those who became atheists precisely because their parents died for what appeared to be unfair reasons – they couldn’t see how a merciful God would allow such a thing, and concluded there wasn’t one.
    Of course, you could presumably believe in a capricious or vicious God (and many have - and check out the Old Testament for one example of many).
    For the record, my beliefs are none of the above.

    I wasn’t clear enough with my language. What I meant actually was that I wonder why he would alter the year of his mother’s death from 1979 to 1977? I just can’t figure out why he would do that.

    I thank those who responded about questions of faith, though. I think that the death of loved ones does not so much change our view of spiritual matters, as it confirms our belief.

    Individual’s view of God and spiritual matters are deeply held and personal and I don’t normally discuss them on sites like this. But because others responded with thoughtful posts, I’ll just say this: if one is to have a personal relationship with God, one has to be open to participating in that relationship.
