I like this comic. I thought the Kennedys’ politics were all far too liberal for my taste but I honor their hard work and sacrifice for our country.

I knew the Repubs would bring up Chappaquiddick. Their mean-spiritedness knows no bounds.

Mean-spiritedness? Give me a break. Repubs are the best thing going. The Dems are what’s wrong with this country. Anyways, looking at the comic strip above, it looks like the 3 Kennedy brothers welcoming Teddy to heaven. That’s my guess.

Never have really liked any of the Kennedy bloodline, but let the dead rest in peace.. God Bless even those we dislike because we should never speak ill of the dead regardless of our personal feelings..

RIP, Ted Kennedy.
Your great public works will speak for themselves far longer than those mean-spirited souls among us who would malign you and your legacy, even on the day of your passing.

His eulogy for Bobby was especially meaningful to me. As a 12 year old, I had met Bobby at a campaign event in Indiana a couple of months before he was assassinated.
RIP!

Years ago a fellow parishoner at our church said he knew Ted Kennedy because they were in the same army outfit together. He said Ted was “a regular guy.” Ted Kennedy devoted his public service into getting health care programs to those who needed the help. Rest in Peace.

FRITZOID: Fatal accidents happen all the time. LB was an inexperienced driver who had just turned 17. No charges were filed.
Ted Kennedy was 37 at the time of the accident. He left a party with Kopechne at ~ 11:15pm, and had probably been drinking, although he denied that. After the accident, he walked past 4 houses (the first one was only 150 yards away and had lights on) without stopping to call for help, on the way back to the party house, where he still didn’t call police. After going back to the scene with 2 friends, and unable to do anything, he told his friends he would take care of it and call authorities. He swam across the river to his hotel room where he “collapsed on his bed”. Hearing noises, he put on dry clothes and “asked someone what time it was” (2:30am). He tossed and turned all night, complained to the hotel owner about a noisy party (2:55) , talked casually at 7:30 with the winner of the previous days sailing race, again argue with his friends about why he didn’t call authorities (8:00),took the ferry back to Chappaquiddick and made a series of phone calls asking for advise. Still no call to police. The car was discovered at 8:20, Kopechne’s body at 8:45. Kennedy could see the body discovered from the pay phone. He then went to the police (10am).
PS: The diver believed Kopechne “lived at least 2 hours down there”.
Kennedy plead guilty to “leaving the scene of an accident after causing injury”. 2 months jail (the minimum), suspended sentence, because of his “age, character and prior reputation”. 6 months DL suspended. Did I mention he was a Kennedy?
I wouldn’t have brought this up (at least not today) if you hadn’t said “Just thought I’d mention it” about Laura Bush. I hope you see the difference. Yet somehow I doubt it.

So who’s making a comparison? Like I said, I just thought I’d mention it…
As for Senator Kennedy,
The evil that men do lives after them; the good oft lies interr’d with their bones. So let it be with Teddy.

IT’S NOT ABOUT YOU, texass, any child can tell what you think.
My comment was to a Great Man. You seem to think that you can voice your opinion, and no one should say different. Too bad I stepped on your toes, but I would have said the same thing, without YOUR post being there. Not everything is a about you. I could care less what you think, too bad you dont feel the same way about me.
A child would know you dont like the Kennedy’s but you insist, to put your snide remarks in. Do you feel better now ? You can take your nap now, take your gun with you so the bad Democrats dont get you.

As Orrin Hatch said, if Teddy gave his word, you could count on it. Like Walter Conkrite, he knew and loved the sea, and sailing, it taught him how to both read the wind, and tack across it to get to his destination.
“Today’s” politicians go whatever way the winds and idiot polls blow, little strength or intelligence for them to survive a rough sea.

” Quality care shouldn’t depend on your financial resources, or the type of job you have, or the medical condition you face. Every American should be able to get the same treatment that U.S. senators are entitled to. This is the cause of my life. “ — Sen. Edward Kennedy

As usually your warped little liberal brain took everything out of context.. Take care my favorite little liberal extremist..

It has long been my belief that had Teddy Kennedy and Elizabeth Edwards had the insurance that we all have, and certainly the insurance that they envision for us to have, that they would not have lived as long as they have. They have the finest medical care that millionaire’s money can buy. (just an opinion, not an opinion of Kennedy- today’s not the day for that)
fritzoid said, 3 months ago
Churchill, I think you miss the point of the Kennedy quote entirely. Kennedy DID envision all Americans having access to the medical care that Senators have. It isn’t a question of bringing Senators down to OUR level, it’s a question of raising ours to match theirs…

churchill-
what exactly do you mean by “the insurance that we all have”?
53 million of “us” don’t have insurance…
What Ted Kennedy envisioned is that ALL of “us” would have access to health care, just the same as we have access to police and fire protection, public education, and protection by the armed forces.
Don’t worry about having the same as our elected officials. The President will ALWAYS get better care than you or I, because he’s more important, period. (Do You get a Secret Service escort? I sure don’t).
Instead, think about what it would be like if the unemployed and the working poor could get access to the same health care we afford police, firefighters, DMV employees, soldiers and their families, and convicted prisoners.
What would it do for the economy if we eliminated the 66% of personal bankruptcies caused by the medical bills associated with catastrophic illness?
cdward said, 3 months ago
I often don’t comment because there’s just nothing to say (and too many say too much already IMHO), but I will relate one story of when I met Ted Kennedy.
It was an awards ceremony where I was giving the invocation and he was a speaker. By whatever strange quirk of fate, I ended up sitting next to him during the ensuing luncheon. The of the table was filled with high powered politicians, and there I was the loan poor priest. For all his personal faults (and I think we all can share in having our own), he was generous and kind not leaving me out of the conversation that was mostly about their private circle of friends. I appreciated that gentle gesture.
I also believe that he, a child of the privileged class, did not have to work as hard as he did all his life for the marginalized. That says something.

Teddy better hope that God has more mercy on him than he had on the unborn!!
cdward said, 3 months ago
Eddie, if you believe, then you trust that God has more mercy than anyone. But you err when you say he’s responsible for those abortions. He was responsible for arguing that abortion should be legal. That’s different. Keeping it legal does not increase the number of abortions, only reduces the number of frightened young women who die in back-ally abortions. If you want to reduce the number of abortions, increase education, economic opportunity and better access to birth control.
If, on the other hand, you merely want to condemn others (as you are doing), be very careful, because God who forgives also says, “Judge not, that you may not be judged. For with whatever judgment you judge, you shall be judged; and with whatever measure you measure out, it shall be measured to you again.” (Matt. 7:1-2)
IrishEddieOHara said, 3 months ago
cdward – Completely BOGUS argument. Show me that there were 4,000 abortions A DAY prior to Roe v Wade. That evil law opened the door by making abortion easy and legal.
When it was not legal, women had a very good reason to refuse the advances of men – they would get pregnant and they had no way to get rid of the baby.
The “back alley abortions” is just another of your sick liberal smoke screens by which you demand that women have the right to kill unwanted children. Yet when we try to approach women in front of the abortion clinics and tell them about the many ministries that will help them keep their babies and adopt them out, you liberals have passed laws that get us arrested if we so much as set a foot on the grass of the clinic.
So much for your vaunted (and entirely hypocritical) call for “choice”.
And finally, God in the Bible nowhere justifies doing evil because some imagined “good” will come from it. Evil (i.e. killing an unborn child) is still evil, and no possible good coming from it can make abortion be anything else but an intrinsically evil choice!
What is with you liberals anyway, that you are so in love with blood and death? Why not urge young women to do two things:
Say NO until marriage
Say yes to adoption and other forms of LIFE
churchillwasright said, 3 months ago
FRITZOID: You missed the point of my post. Nowhere did I mention the President, and it even wasn’t about elected officials. It was about millionaires. Do we all have the right to the same level of healthcare as millionaires? Since you think that the working– and non-working poor, and illegal immigrants should have the same level of HC that I have, I think I have the right to the same level of care as Elizabeth Edwards and Teddy Kennedy. I want unlimited access to the best specialists in their field, with whatever and as many tests as they deem appropriate, all without having to worry about money for a moment. What’s fair is fair, right?

He made a mistake with Mary Jo and the rest of his life was spent trying to make the world a better place. From what I’ve read of Mary Jo I suspect she would have forgiven him. But the right needs something to use to demonize him.
IrishEddieOHara said, 3 months ago
Oh God of spirits and all flesh, Who has trampled death, broken the power of Satan, and granted life to your world, grant rest to the soul of your servant, Edward Kennedy, in a place of light, joy, and peace, where there is no pain, sorrow, nor mourning. As a kind and gracious God, forgive every sin committed by him in thought, word, or deed, since there is no person who lives and does not sin. You alone are without sin, your justice is everlasting justice and your word is truth. For you are the resurrection, the life, and the repose of your departed servant, Edward Kennedy, O Christ, our God, and we glorify You, together with your eternal Father and your all-holy, gracious, and life-giving spirit, now and ever, and forever, Amen
The Church dictates that in charity I pray this for the soul of Teddy Kennedy. As an obedient son of the Church, I shall do so.
I am merely pointing out in these pages that based on his life of opposing the teachings of the Church, which is the voice of God on earth, I hope he had a sincere repentance on his deathbed. If not, he may be in some deep trouble.
May be. Do you understand what the words “may be” indicate?
I am just tired of cartoonists acting as God and drawing cartoons that show anyone who dies automatically goes to Heaven, especially if it’s a liberal. Bet they didn’t do that when Ronnie Reagan died, did they?
fritzoid said, 3 months ago
Reagan was a man of principle, and so preferred to stay with his friends.
But don’t worry; once they’ve got that “camel-through-the-eye-of-a-needle” problem worked out, they’ll all enter together.
