If I, as a conservative, hope Obama fails at being a good president so that the next election my party wins; why do you immediately associate me with racialists and haters? PUT DOWN THE KOOL_AID!!
Corosive Frog said, 10 months ago
Look! Here’s my confederate-flag wearer who says we take too much time getting over Al Gore’s defeat.
Check the Viagra box in Limbaugh’s pocket! Looks like he followed my advice to get laid more often to let out the frustration…looks like it didn’t work!
Calling them traitors is over the edge. Making a difference between “their” america and “yours” is like Palin’s “real ‘murica”. It was bull coming from her mouth, it is bull coming from anyone else.
Although rabid ideologues from the GOP can be incredibly reckless, like ten years ago when they made their nation the laughing stock of the world over a BJ but nothing says Democrats are protected from doing the same mistake.
mastergunz; thanks for adding another sentence Danziger forgot tu put in the toon.

hump, does this mean you agree with rush? thank you for the insult. master, if you would like to see our great nation with more problems than now, just so your party wins the next election, then yes, i think you’re wrong
lalas said, 10 months ago
Go for it master, wish the WHOLE country ill so that your candidate can win. It makes you a hater, because it clearly is not being a lover.

If Obama fails this country fails… America has lost 1/3 of it’s wealth ( and it is still in HUGE financial trouble ). Maybe Rush loves the idea of other countries buying our debt… I sure don’t!

Just think about it how Rush would have reacted if some “liberal” came out it in 2000 and publically said: “I hope Bush failed.”
He would call them anti-american and ask him/her to leave the country. Rush: You know what you have to do! I heard Iraq is a nice safe place to live. I’m sure you’ll be greeted with flowers.
gbrucewilson said, 10 months ago
I don’t agree with Rush. I hope Obama is a success, as a moderate president. But, what Rush said is minor compared to what the left has been saying for 8 years. The left didn’t want Bush to just fail, they wanted him to die. And they were very vocal about it. The left has been rooting against our military ever since we went to Iraq. On the “hate meter”, Rush gets a 5. The far left gets an 11 (out of 10). Also, I read the entire transcript of Rush’s comments and the context was he wants Obama to fail at turning this country socialist. I would agree with that.

Once again you left wing-nuts fail to listen. Rush Limbaugh said: “If Obama wants Socialism, I hope he fails”. And any body who wants socialism to suceed, just look what happened to East Germany and other Eastern European socialist states. They do not exist any more. Wake up and take off your liberal goggles.
If Obama wants socialism, I hope he fails too.

gbrucewilson, man do you have it wrong. No one wanted Bush to die, then we would have had Cheney openly running (ruining?) the country. No we want him held accountable for abuse of power, corruption, perjury, and war crimes. And your “hate meter” is totally out of whack. Maybe because Rush and Ann Coulter made it go BOING. And last, you paranoid wingnuts continue to insist Obama is a socialist, communist who is going to take away your guns. You continue to insist this despite no reason beyond your own feverish tiny little brains.

Hey–Danziger, Telnaes, etal, as well as the major newspapers and news networks wished this on President Bush ever since their boy Gore lost.
motivemagus said, 10 months ago
This whole “stop hatin’ on Bush” thing baffles me. People like Coulter and Limbaugh and even some Republican Congresspeople openly accused anyone who dissented from Bush’s views as being a traitor to this nation. Coulter apparently uses bile instead of ink in her printer, and makes horrid, evil accusations. Let’s face facts, folks - Bush screwed up. Monumentally. He has earned approbation.
Wanting Obama, and thus the nation, to fail is monstrously worse than anything the Left said. I, for example, wanted Bush and Cheney impeached. Or least wanted to make them listen to the elder Bush at length on why not to meddle in international affairs without some smarts. But that is under a rule of law. Someone wanting the nation to fail, as Rush apparently does just so he can sneer at Obama, is truly a traitor.
claudermilk said, 10 months ago
Dale got to the kernel of it: If Obama fails, the country fails. To me his statement comes off as insanity. Much as I disliked Bush, I sure wish he didn’t failed as badly as he did, because look where we are now. We’re in the middle of an object lesson: we all go down–or up–together. So here’s to hoping our new president succeeds and brings uss all out of the current mess.
BTW, gbw: I don’t know of anyone “against the military”–we learned that lesson years ago. It’s the use to which they have been put that many disagree with. I think most can make the distinction between support of the people there and not supporting the reason they have been ordered there.
fennec said, 10 months ago
motivemagus sums it up beautifully to my way of thinking. Thanks, MM.
BirishB said, 10 months ago
“If Obama wants Socialism, I hope he fails.”
Obama DOES NOT WANT socialism, so the statement is moot. I want Obama to succeed, but IF HE WANTED SOCIALISM, I would hope he fails, too.
This whole socialism cr_p MUST stop. It is a lie, pure and simple, with absolutely zero redeeming truth. It is an un-American accusation, and it’s close to a treasonous accusation.

And while you’re at it tell me all about this socialist thing I keep hearing from the right.

gbrucewilson (and I’m beginning to think that gbw is an anagram for GWB),
The left didn’t spend the last 8 years wishing for Bush to fail, Bush spent the last 8 years failing.
All in all, though, while some on the left called for impeachment, Ann Coulter on the right is the only one I can remember calling for Liberals to tried for treason, even when it resulted in the death penalty. She even accused FDR of treason.
And for the record, I did want Bush to fail in his efforts to argue that the President has the power to designate YOU, a US citizen, as an enemy combatant in a memo, in order to detain YOU indefinitely without filing criminal charges or giving YOU a court trial to determine the truth of the charges, because that is a CLEAR violation of the Constitution that the President swore to defend.
lalas said, 10 months ago
GBW – you do have it wrong, we didn’t want W to fail… we wanted him to STOP failing. The man was a failure at everything in his life. His ONE success was the Rangers, which was only a success due to his duping the public into buying them/him a new stadium. Every business he ran, failed, and then he ran for office wanting to be our CEO President.
Another cause for our hatred toward him was his utter contempt for EVERYBODY and EVERYTHING. Rule of law, our traditional allies, non-sycophants, reason, empirical evidence, history etc…
He (and Rush, Coulter, et al) got people like you to believe that the rest of us want our military to fail. BULLSH!T That argument is a result of a false dichotomy: Love W or hate the military. I truly believe that the conservative mindset is generally much more black and white than the liberal mindset and those types of b&w dichotomies are easier for you to buy. Where, as a liberal/progressive I can support our military AND hate Bush.
I’ve always thought the idea that dissent is harmful to our troops is utterly simplistic. It’s always cast in terms of Vietnam… I think dissenters have learned the unfairness of how the Viet vets were treated and won’t do that again.
What we want for our vets was for them to be put in harms way for a damned good reason, not this farce that is Iraq. We also are willing to pry open our wallets and make sure they are taken care of for their sacrifices – something the Republicans are against, even McSame voted against vets. Support our troops became a jingoistic line for simple-minded people to repeat loudly, thus drowning out reasoning and questions.

@Sumsanity: He didn’t say sh* about Obama wanting socialism: http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_011609/content/01125113.guest.html
He just assumes that liberalism is equal to socialism is equal to the eastern european dictatorships of the last century.
Instead he wants to live by the bible. But of course not by the teachings of this radical hippie in the new testament.

To gbrucewilson, I cannot believe you actually think that any reasonable American, no matter their politics or ideology is wishing the worst for our troops. This is Karl Rove thinking and it just isn’t true. There isn’t a person in the Government or Congress that thinks ill of the troops. Quite the contrary. I’m a Democrat and a Vietnam veteran and I want the people home because, like Vietnam, the action in Iraq is built on wicked deception, and the thoughtful and concerned critics are labeled disloyal by the liers. Enough already.

Rush and others like Bill O’Reilly on Fox Noise individually make over $200 million every year from their ability to put the crackers shorts in a knot on a daily basis. Was it “Nineteen Eighty-Four” where they had a daily Two Minute’s Hate propaganda program always concluding with Big Brother coming in at the end to pacify the rage, bring tears of joy and relief of the nation’s Dittoheads. It reminds me of Rush and Bill-O the Clown. It’s all about the money. Rush gets rich by making others a dupe. (do your own thinking.)

Remember when Limbo and some other NeoCons accused Liberals of hoping that Bush would fail? They called us treasonous, unpatriotic, un-American, etc. etc. etc. Now Obama has just started trying to repair the damage of eight years of Dubya and look who’s treasonous, unpatriotic, un-American, etc. etc. etc.
