Errr… Not that I’m “Pro Bushmaster” or anything, but the Navy Yard shooting at least started with a shotgun, as far as we know now…

Soooo….. are we being invaded by assault weapons? For the life of me I thought there was one rummaging around my home’s bushes last night…

There is no definition of what an assault weapon is. This will make it very easy for the government to drop the hammer on gun rights, with the help of an ignorant media. If you want ot know where they will be heading all you have to do is look at the words of Chuck Schumer who said they would simply go after the amminition instead of the guns.

Good post! Yesterday I suggested that we begin fixing our mental health system. Perhaps the media Should be fixed first. The touchy feely posters want to blame eveything and everyone but the shooter. Perhaps you are correct in eliminating the 1st amendment also, then we would not have to listen to the insane way the PC "fix " problems in this country.

I referred to the need to address societal changes to begin to approach the problem of US violence. I just found this commentary which I think provides a good outline of the kind of approach I was advocating. Perhaps you will find it of use also.

It was a Shotgun used in the Naval Shipyard shooting, not an assault rifle

I blame the Navy for renewing this man’s High Level Security Clearance albeit the Police told the Navy he was mentally unstable. Had he Navy revoked his High level Security Clearance, he would not have been able to gain access to the Naval Shipyard.

Fast and Furious is Obama’s fault as he instituted it.

Yes O did give us F&F but more applicable here is the fact that Clinton disarmed most military personnel while on base. Still I don’t think that move has been bad , a bit like Katrina – you can’t stop some things in life , just deal with em as they come. A loose translation from General Honore’!

Handguns kill many, many, more people than “assault” weapons (hate the term), or shotguns and rifles (all “long guns”) It IS the handgun, and short weapons, like MACs, and UZI that are used by gang-bangers and criminals, to effect.

“So do guns kill people or do they not?”
    .
Not as well as cars do. I’ve never buried a friend killed by a gun, but several killed by automobiles.

This guy must work for CNN. They can never get their story straight and have to make apologies for their stupid mistakes.
